Tomorrow at Pillsbury Creative Commons PH+T Makers Series Artists Body Watani present: Film Screening of After the Last Red Sky

Join us for an evening with PH+T Makers Series artists Body Watani and a screening of "After The Last Red Sky", a film documenting Leila and Noelle Awadallah's 2025 residency and performance procession at Dar Jacir for Art and Research in Bethlehem, Palestine.

Through movement, ritual, and community gathering, the film explores land, memory, grief, resistance, and Palestinian aliveness.

We're thrilled to announce the 2026 recipients of the McKnight Community-Engaged Artist Fellowship: Junauda Petrus and Chaka Mkali.

These two visionary Minnesota artists have each been awarded a fellowship recognizing exceptional mid-career artists whose work is rooted in community engagement, cultural transformation, and creative leadership.

Junauda Petrus is an acclaimed writer, filmmaker, performance artist, and the 2025–2026 Poet Laureate of Minneapolis. Chaka Mkali (I Self Devine) is a multidisciplinary artist, cultural strategist, curator, and community organizer whose work bridges art, culture, and social change.

Administered by Pillsbury House + Theatre and funded by McKnight Foundation , the fellowship provides support for artists whose practices help shape more connected, creative, and just communities.

Enrollment is now open at Pillsbury Early Education Center (PEEC) for toddlers and preschoolers ages 16 months–5 years.

At PEEC, children learn and grow through an arts-infused curriculum that incorporates visual arts, dance, drama, and movement while building early literacy and math skills. Students are introduced to both Spanish and American Sign Language and learn in a culturally responsive environment that celebrates every child's unique background and experiences.

Our caring, experienced educators bring decades of early childhood education expertise to the classroom, creating a nurturing space where children can explore, create, and thrive.

"Boundless / Sin límites" — All at Once
Now playing at Pillsbury House + Theatre, "Boundless / Sin límites" follows Sol on a journey through memory, myth, and the layered histories of South Minneapolis. Created by All at Once Puppet Company and developed through story circles with BIPOC South Minneapolis residents, the production weaves together shadow, tabletop, and rod puppetry to explore migration, identity, community, and the impact of immigration enforcement on the lives of families and neighborhoods.

Due to audience interest, an additional performance has been added on Monday, June 15 at 7 PM. Remaining performances are June 11, 12, and 13, and 15th at 7 PM, with a closing matinee on June 14 at 2 PM featuring a Spanish translation.

Last week, Ms. Charlene of Pillsbury Early Education Center was honored with a Congressional Record presentation from Congresswoman Ilhan Omar in recognition of her 34 years of service to our community.

Many families know Ms. Charlene as PEEC's longtime Lead Preschool Teacher, where she has helped nurture and support generations of young learners and their families. Her dedication, care, and leadership have left a lasting impact on our community, and we are thrilled to see her receive this well-deserved recognition.

PEEC is currently enrolling toddlers and preschoolers ages 16 months–5 years (Pre-K). Our arts-infused, play-based learning environment supports children's growth, curiosity, and development.

Opening next week at Pillsbury House + Theatre: "Boundless / Sin límites"

Created by All at Once Puppet Company, this new work follows Sol, a young person sheltering from ICE, who is swept into a time-traveling journey through memory, myth, and the layered histories of South Minneapolis.

Developed through story circles with BIPOC South Minneapolis residents, "Boundless / Sin límites" — All at Once brings together the work of Twin Cities artists - Oanh Vu, Andrew Young, Sofía Padilla, and Erica Warren. The collective's work spans Open Eye Theatre, Heart of the Beast, Barebones, Monkeybear, Bread and Puppet Theater, and nationally recognized puppetry projects.

Through shadow, tabletop, and rod puppetry, the production explores migration, identity, belonging, and community.

Good news — the deadline for the 2026 Naked Stages Artist Fellowship has been extended to Monday, March 9 at 5 PM CST.

Produced by Pillsbury House + Theatre and supported by the Jerome Foundation through the Jerome Performance Art Commissioning Program, Naked Stages is a 7-month mentored fellowship for early career artists working across performance art, live art, site-specific, and interdisciplinary forms.

Fellows receive:
• Financial support
• Mentorship + workshops
• Production resources
• A public presentation of their work at PH+T

If you’re an early career artist (2–10 years of generative experience) ready to grow your practice in a supportive, community-centered space — this is for you.
