We're late, but to be honest it's taken us this long to process the events taking place in the world around us. And in the aftermath of the chaos it seemed important to start our reeducation and the education of our two young children so they can, hopefully, break this cycle of oppression and hate.
As an organization lead by white people we recognize we have a lot of work to do to identify and eliminate our ingrained biases. We have work to do to educate ourselves and acknowledge our privilege. We have work to do to support, uplift, and amplify the voices of artists of color.
We're going to make mistakes. Changes won't come fast enough and they won't be as dramatic as they should be, but we're committed to the changes and the journey.

We're still accepting idea submissions until the end of the week! If you're a playwright and have an idea that might work for our LRT we want to hear from you!

Swandive Theatre is seeking script proposals for their next round of the Living Room Tour, currently scheduled for September 2020. The Living Room Tour is where Swandive produces a show and performs it in...you guessed it...Living Rooms around the Twin Cities! We use the Living Room Tour as an opportunity to make intimate theater more accessible and as an annual fundraiser.

For the 2020 production, we are seeking to work with a local playwright to develop a new script. Playwrights that are interested should submit a proposal via this google form: https://forms.gle/irR5L3nA3iMXWegw7
Criteria for Living Room Tour scripts include:
1-3 actors (preferably 2, and preferably not all male-identifying characters)
Final run time approx. 60 minutes
Minimal props
Limited environments (will be performed from a couch or chair(s) in a living room)
No lighting effects
Sound design is okay
Consideration to mood - while dramatic scenarios are okay, we are interested in themes that are generally uplifting due to the intimate nature of the production.

This is a paid commission. Playwrights whose pitch we like will be asked to produce a rough first draft and paid $100 for that draft. From those finalists we will select one script to workshop and produce and that playwright will receive an additional $500 commission. Pitches and drafts will be reviewed and selected by Swandive’s staff and board of directors.

Pitches due by Friday 4/10 at 5pm. πŸ—“

So send us your ideas πŸ’‘
What story do you want to tell in a small intimate living room space?
