♻️Up-Cycled/Thrifted Dyed Pieces. Hi Friend! My name is Miriam and I’m a professional violinist and tie-dye artist.

I’m also a former orchestra director but I gave up that lifestyle to live a slower, healthier life and to be able to spend more time with my daughter and husband. I’ve always loved Tie-Dye as a kid and began my journey with tie-dye projects in my teens. During Covid I looked for activities to do at home with my daughter, and I experimented with Ice-Dye. We had so much fun and I began to experiment

with different folds and techniques. Through word of mouth I began receiving commissioned shirts to dye, and eventually I opened my business. At the end of 2021. I’m also a professional violinist and served in our Public School systems for 11 years, 10 of those as a High School Orchestra Director. It was a full schedule -with early morning rehearsals and evening rehearsals or performances. In 2018 for the sake of my health I left my post and became a free-range musician. I’ve also been teaching violin for more that 20 years, and still teach private lessons today. I also play in an all-female quartet named the Ta-Ta Quartet. We live in a CoHousing Community in Minneapolis, Minnesota where we share Community responsibilities and also live amongst other musicians and artists. (We aren’t an artist community, we just happen to have other artists here.) I’m grateful for being able to have space to work on all my creative projects, and I value living in a community that encourages small artists to thrive.

Happy Juneteenth! Finally got to meet the Textile Center of Minnesota — we spent a few hours there looking at the exhibits and doing some shopping. I didn’t get any photos of the two-spirit exhibit or the phenomenal quilts from the quilting guild, but the work that is on display is unbelievably amazing 😱 My favorite piece is the last three photos — celebrating the Dakota Matriarch. I had goosebumps! And if you haven’t been, The Stashery is also fantastic! I found a few treasures that will be included in some upcoming ice-dye videos and found some great quilting cottons for my mom. Did I mention they have a fiber library for members and they offer classes? I have a feeling I will be spending a lot of time at the Textile center in my future! 🔮✨

It took me 4 years but I finally got a video clip today of the finished Canvas — I can’t wait to see what Dena does with it! I made a Gravity Dye playlist on TikTok which you can check out if you want to see the entire process!

I have a few bags leftover from Art-A-Whirl this past weekend in Minneapolis — I sewed them from upcycled T-shirt’s I ice-dyed. They are fully lined and adjustable— the straps are approx. 2 yards and I can shorten them if you need a smaller size. Bags also expand! Can be worn as a crossbody bag or a f***y pack ✨
