We are two weeks away from the opening of "Just Desserts!" This is on April 10th? Wow, we doughnut believe it.

Mark your calendars—we're coming in with a spring Artist Mixer during the run of "Just Desserts." Whether you're an exhibiting artist, artist artist, or just getting started, we would love to see you there!

Artist Mixers act as a low-pressure chance to meet and connect with your fellow local and talented fiber artisans. It is open to anyone and everyone who identifies as an artist specifically within the realm of fibers and textiles or the fiber-curious. We encourage folks to bring a small project to work on. Or don’t and just be there for some light refreshments and human connection.

We cannot wait to see you there!

We're nearly two weeks away from the sweet extravaganza that "Just Desserts" will offer! Tell us when you're coming! 🍰

Beyond our opening weekend complete with different themes and activities each day, we have the set gallery hours for The Snips' time over at Fresh Eye:

Friday, April 10th: 7pm-9pm
Saturday, April 11th: 2pm-6pm
Sunday, April 12th: 11am-2pm
Wednesday, April 15th : Artist Mixer, 5:00pm-7:00pm (Exhibition also open!)
Thursday, April 16th: 5pm-8pm (Accessibility Night; masks required)
Friday, April 17th: 5pm-8pm
Saturday, April 18th: 3pm-7pm

Tickets are required at the door. Economically accessible tickets are always available.

We cannot wait to share this fantastic work of 20+ fiber and textile artists from across Minnesota and their interpretation of confectionaries and comeuppance (and/or both).

We know there's a lot going on, Olympic Fever alone, right? We've heard that folks need to get some ground under their feet which continues to be difficult with the current occupation in Minnesota.

The Snips have extended the call for art deadline for "Just Desserts" to Friday, February 20th (just in time for the newly discovered, by us at least, Cherry Pie Day). A reminder that artists are not required to have a completed piece for this application-- we also accept concept pieces with your work samples. As always, there is no application fee and all proceeds of art sales in "Just Desserts" goes to the artist.

About the Call for Art:

The Snips and their artists seek to explore the theme of confectioneries and comeuppance through the medium of textile and fiber art.

“Just desserts” or “just deserts?” Are you inclined to enjoy the saccharine things in life and find joy and expression through sweet treats? Or, are you more persuaded to believe that one will get the punishment or reward they deserve? In this case, we do mean both. Just Desserts explores relationships with confectionary form, relationships with decadent treats, morality prescribed to these foods, and the imagery that comes from the expression of someone getting their “just deserts.”

Notice of acceptance into "Just Desserts" has also moved to Tuesday, February 24th.

A huge thank you to everyone who made our Opening Weekend of "Horrified IV: Creature Feature" a true monster mash!

We're back at it again TODAY, Thursday, October 23 from 5:00pm-8:00pm
Friday, October 24th from 5:00pm-8:00pm
Saturday, October 25th from 3:00pm-7:00pm

And then, the featured creatures will be out of and back to the depths from which they came. (Or fun new homes, however you want to put it).

It’s the Horrified IV Opening Eve—the best time of the year in our humble opinions!

You’ve seen the sneak peeks—be ready to submerge yourself figuratively and literally into monsters creepy and cute!

Tickets for opening are selling FAST so get yours now (with an included early bird discount) to make sure you have a spot!

Horrified runs from October 17th-25th with various gallery hours throughout the run. We cannot wait to see you there to celebrate the work of 25+ fiber and textile artists and all the folks who make this happen!

Throwback Thursday (and Future Fthursday) with the exuberant and fabulous, Kristina Fjellman () with a shot of Kristina's fiber sculpture, "Beneath" from our first Horrified back in 2022!

We love that Kristina is not only exhibiting with us for a 4th iteration of "Horrified," but she's also a member of our Artist Council! We cannot wait to see what she's cooking up for "Horrified IV: Creature Feature," but said that if a monster were to attack Metropolis she would, "Stand in awe for probably too long, and then run away screaming."

You too will stand in awe and scream with delight at the opening of Horrified on October 17th, running until October 25th . Get your tickets in advance for early bird discounts!

Some more about Kristina:

"Kristina Fjellman is a visual artist and performer and is drawn to creative projects that will
combine both of these passions. She has exhibited her sculpture in venues around the Midwest and Twin Cities and was a recipient of a Jerome Fiber Art Project Grant for 2010-2011 at the MN Textile Center. She is a graduate of St. Catherine University with a MAED in Art and Theater Education, an ensemble member of Sandbox Theatre and a founding member of The Winding Sheet Outfit. When not creating visual art or devised theater, she also creates colorful jewelry and paper goods under the shop 'Handmade by Kristina.'”

In case you didn't know...tickets for "Horrified IV: Creature Feature" are on sale!

We are loving the new work and sneaky peeks from our exhibiting artists, including the wildly talented Kelly Wilson (.textiles)! You may have seen Kelly's work at "Folklore" last spring and we could not be more excited to see what she has cooking for "Horrified!"

Kelly Wilson is a fiber artist based in Minneapolis whose primary focus is knitwear and wearable art garments.
