Happy National Day of Sweden! 🇸🇪

On this day 500 years ago, Gustav Vasa was elected King of Sweden, and it’s also the anniversary of Sweden's adoption of a new constitution in 1809.

Want to join the celebrations? While June 6 marks Sweden’s National Day, another beloved Swedish celebration, Midsommar, is just around the corner.

Join ASI on June 20 for a Midsommar Celebration right in Minneapolis. Everyone is welcome to celebrate one of Sweden’s favorite holidays by heading outside for live music, dancing around the majstång (maypole), and many family-friendly activities.

Emelie Röhdahl has been weaving for over half of her life. Through her constant use of and intimate relationship with wool, she has developed a sensitivity to it. In these self-portraits, her red nose bleeds down her face, calling attention to the flushed skin and asthmatic symptoms she now experiences while weaving.

There are only two weeks left to view this work and more in “Handwoven: Between Chaos and Order”, on view through June 7.
