Carson Valley Arts Council presents local jewelry artist Suzy Musil and pastel artist Jan Rollenhagen at the Copeland Gallery in Minden from October 20 through December 11, 2026.

CVAC will host an artist’s reception for Suzy and Jan on Saturday, October 24 from 1 until 3 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Free refreashments. Come and meet Suzy and Jan.

Suzy Musil

Suzy’s addiction to the world of beads began with a trip to the Gem and Mineral Show in Tucson Arizona. On arrival a new world opened up; her inner magpie was captured by the myriad of bright, sparkly objects. She was determined to do something creative with all those gemstones and jewels.

After some trial and error, she discovered that her forte is bead embroidery: creating wearable art using beads, needle and thread. Each piece is stitched one bead at a time; designs that spike, swirl and swoop. Her goal with each piece is to bring a smile to the wearer.

Jan Rollenhagen

Jan started drawing cartoons at 4 years old. Her family thought she was tracing them – until they realized they were different sizes. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, NY, majoring in fashion design, she was offered a position in California. She designed swimsuits and ladies undergarments.
After Jan had children she returned to Fine Arts starting with oils, then pastels, and finally with cast paper and gourds.
The artists’ exhibit can be viewed Monday through Saturday 10 am to 5 pm. Suzy’s and Jan’s work will be available for purchase.

Feel free to contact us for additional information or questions by calling the Carson Valley Arts Council office at 782-8207. The Copeland Gallery is located at 1572 US Hwy 395, Minden (corner of Hwy 395 and County Road).
