Milwaukee’s Free Shakespeare in the Park debuted in 2010 with a critically acclaimed production of “The Tempest” starring Milwaukee theatre luminaries James Pickering and Angela Iannone as Prospero and Ariel. Our parks have shifted over the years but Shakespeare in the Park has become a beloved annual summer tradition for Milwaukee friends, families and visitors from near and far wherever we gather.

Hey Shakespeare lovers and supporters! Boosting the signal for a homegrown heart-felt production of "Hamlet" ! It's great to share how Whitnall High School is using Shakespeare's immortal words to encourage young people explore some of life's topical and big pictures.

Shows are happening soon so don't delay. All about it....

The Whitnall High School Theatre Departments presents "Hamlet".

In adapting this classic, we’ve brought the "rot" of Denmark into the 21st century to show just how much Shakespeare’s ghost story mirrors the political and spiritual anxieties of our own world today. We felt that the true horror of Hamlet isn't the ghost, but the way inaction can cause a modern kingdom to unravel before our eyes. This production became deeply personal to us because it explores that thin line between staying frozen in uncertainty and finding the courage to act before everything falls apart. We truly hope you’ll join us for this reimagined tragedy.

Location: Whitnall High School Auditorium, 5000 South 116th Street, Greenfield WI, 53228

Performance Times:

April 17 and 18 | 7pm

April 19 | 2pm

The world is getting hotter, there’s unrest overseas—the seas themselves aren’t very calm—and one couple is thinking about having a child. LUNGS is a smart and funny drama that follows a couple through the surprising life cycle of their relationship, as they grapple with questions of family and change, hope, betrayal, happenstance, and the terrible pain that you can only cause the people you love.

Playing September 19th through September 28th at the Goodman Mainstage Hall at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center. LUNGS runs approximately ninety minutes with no intermission. $10 Student tickets are available at the door for every performance, pending availability. Monday, September 22nd is our Pay What You Will Performance, where you can pay as much or as little as you wish for tickets! For more information, visit vanguardmke.com/tickets-and-events.

"Thanks and ever thanks..."
One of our favorite kudos from this season was one of the simplest--this lovely thank you! So it's only fitting that we share it when *we* say THANK YOU to everyone who came to see our Shakespeare in the Park and everyone whose support made it possible.

Our season is over for now, but we're already thinking about next summer. We can't wait to see you again. Thank you!

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that we will not be able to reschedule the performance missed at Kern Park or the day of performances at Lincoln Park.

Please know that we tried our best and had hoped to use our rain date option, but due to a number of factors that are outside of our control (caused by the historic weather of the past week and the current forecast, among other considerations) it is not possible to bring you these shows in these locations.

Kern Park is a fabulous new location for us, and Shakespeare's Meadow at Lincoln has been a touring home for us for years with very active community support. We know our beloved community is suffering from losses much more severe than this, but we are saddened nonetheless.

A ray of light is that our season is not yet over, and we still plan to have a performance, weather and grounds permitting, at Wisconsin Ave Park this Sunday. If you had a registration/reservation to either of the affect shows, it will automatically be transferred for this date. (If you are a member with a reservation and cannot make this date, please message or email us to discuss options).

We are so thankful for your support, and hopeful to see you Sunday. More than that, we hope you are safe.

Dear Friends: In light of current forecast for today, along with an understanding of the damages caused by last night's storms, we have made the difficult decision to cancel today's shows at Lincoln Park. We are looking into the possibility of rescheduling and will keep everyone posted.

We always try to have "the show go on" when it is possible and responsible to do so; today, it is neither. So we hope you will understand. And even more so we hope that you, our friends, are all well and safe.

We thank you and Friends of Lincoln Park for your support.

We are keeping an eye on the evolving conditions and will update everyone in the morning as we know the forecast, ground, and road conditions as to our Lincoln Park plans. For now, we hope you are all safe.

Plus, the new location is perfect!"

So sorry!!

So much lightning plus all the electrical equipment plus big fat wind equals we had to call the show for today. But guess what?! Most of the audience members here at Kern Park are going to give it a shot at Lincoln Park tomorrow!! They were so happywith the 15 minutes of Shrew they managed to see.

Such love!
