A WCS Actors Studio Ensemble Intensive

Actors, directors, designers and humans of all experience levels welcome. Over five evenings, the WCS Ensemble will investigate Shaw together, putting scenes on their feet, asking questions, testing ideas, challenging assumptions, and discovering what Shaw's language can do.

Shaw gives actors extraordinary material full of wit, argument, seduction, politics, status, comedy, contradiction, and characters who rarely say exactly what they mean.

Sharpen your listening, skills rhetoric, physical presence, timing, instincts, and relationship to classical language. Members of the WCS Ensemble will all participate in leading the work and shaping the conversation around the text.

Viewpoints Ensemble Training is our flagship class, offered year-round as scheduling allows. This is a laboratory designed to train your entire instrument (heart, mind, body, and soul) while aligning you with artists who are genuinely committed to the idea of ensemble. The work is physically rigorous yet full of embodied joy.

This is ensemble training in the truest sense. You’ll practice listening with your whole body, responding in real time, and shaping something that only exists because everyone in the room is fully present. It’s a rare chance to train without hierarchy, without performance pressure, and with the shared understanding that the group’s imagination is stronger than any single artist’s.

For nearly 60 years, Jan Serr has been creating art in Milwaukee and building a remarkable legacy as both an artist and arts advocate. Alongside her husband, John Shannon, she co-founded the Warehouse Art Museum and Guardian Fine Art Services, helping preserve and protect art for generations.

Now, Summer Paintings brings decades of Jan’s work to Villa Terrace, exploring her relationship with one of her enduring inspirations: Lake Michigan.

The exhibition runs through November 30.

The students of Muskego High School's Drama Club brought incredible energy, focus, and courage to every moment of our movement workshop! They dove into movement exercises, Viewpoints, and the Suzuki Method, pushing themselves through 2½ hours of creative, physical, and transformational work. They left exhausted, inspired, and ready for more! We couldn't be more proud of their willingness to take risks and fully commit to the process.

One week ago, we closed GHOSTS, and I’ve been thinking about this extraordinary group of artists ever since.

Theater is never made by one person. It is built by people willing to trust each other enough to chase something difficult, uncomfortable, and deeply human. This company did exactly that.

To everyone who gave your talent, your trust, your sweat, your vulnerability, and your belief in this impossible art form: thank you.

Henrik Ibsen wrote Ghosts to expose the invisible forces we inherit and the truths we refuse to confront. Together, this company honored that vision with honesty, courage, and extraordinary artistry.
