Shots Shots is a quarterly reading series at Var Gallery and is the response to the traditional poetry reading. There's no feature, there's no theme-- just seven poets reading 5-7 minute sets, all boasting different voices and styles and experiences and lives. There's no cover, there's a few breaks, and it's always a little rowdy. Every installment of Short Shots has something for someone. Seeing

all these readers side by side always a great introduction to what poetry can be and performance is all about. Send a video or audio audition to [email protected] for consideration as we book out 2018. Events occur February / May / August / November on Thursday nights, always at Var Gallery in Walker's Point.

Since the third installment of Short Shots, Milwaukee photographer Lily Shea has been documenting poets, hosts, and patrons alike for every installment of Short Shots and nearly every installment of its sister series, Poets Read Some Stuff Someplace in Milwaukee. It's an understatement to say that we're lucky to have her. It's also an understatement to say that I'm particularly bad at posting her photos as they're made available to me.
