If you’re a high schooler or know one who loves making art-or wants to try something new-this program is your chance to dive into real creative work.

Participants will build their artistic skills, learn hands-on techniques, explore Milwaukee's art scene, and work with actual professional artists—not just in theory, but side-by-side.

And at the end of each semester, participants get to show off what you made in a public exhibition so friends, family, and the community can see your work.

Bonus: Students who get in can earn a stipend based on showing up and putting in the effort.

Class sizes are small, so you do need to apply ahead of time. The fall registration deadline is September 10.

🎨 CALL FOR ARTISTS: MAKER | MENTOR

We’re looking for artists to participate in Maker | Mentor, AWE’s exhibition celebrating the creative exchange between young artists and the teaching artists who inspire, guide, and learn alongside them.

Are you a teaching artist, professional artist, or mentor who has worked with AWE youth? Are you a current or former youth participant? We want to see what you make! This exhibition is an opportunity to showcase your own creative practice alongside the work and ideas that emerge when teaching artists and youth engage.

Want to see what the teens in our summer program accomplished?

Join us for their final exhibition this Monday, August 17 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.at AWE located at 4315 W. Vliet Street.

Enjoy seeing the final works they’ve created under the guidance of artist Siri Stensberg.

It’s a drop-in affair. Doors are open until 7:30 p.m.
Most artwork is for sale with 80% of the proceeds going directly to the student artist.
Light refreshments will be served.
