Hi Friends,
I'm hoping some of you will be interested in attending this film with me. Please let me know.
I was a friend of Janet Fitch, the film-maker founder of New Moon Productions. She made numerous vital films about issues we face, including a series on gun violence. Milwaukee Public Theatre worked with the Marquette Theatre Department to co-produce Most Dangerous Women, a play that chronicles a century of the international women's peace movement, featuring headlines, resolutions, speeches, poetry, and songs to educate and inspire. Janet filmed the play and now Marquette is sponsoring a film that was inspired by it.
The Institute for Women’s Leadership, Marquette Votes and Civic Dialogues will present a screening of the short film “Most Dangerous Women” on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. in the 707 Hub.
UW-Milwaukee professor emerita Dr. Merry Wiesner-Hanks will join as a special guest speaker. Additionally, information on how to create your own voting plan will be provided, courtesy of Marquette Votes.
The short film documentary series, produced by Milwaukee-based New Moon Productions, covers the untold stories of women change-makers and encourages viewers to reflect on the dangerous and unacknowledged actions of women in their own lives. Directed by Janet Fitch, the episodes use both past and present-day footage to encourage a diverse range of audiences to engage in community building and storytelling.
The screening is free to attend, though registration is required. Light refreshments will be served.
