If they choose to pull the second song they HAVE to sing that one, and the original song pulled goes back into the hat.

3. Rules of Gameplay
a. Play nice – The HMKL is supposed to be fun. Kindness is the rule of the day and anyone violating that may be disqualified or suspended at the Commissioner’s discretion.
b. Song Lenth – due to time constraints, songs are limited to 4:20 in length, if a song chosen exceeds that length it is faded out at that time mark.
c. Song Sourcing – The league has a song library of almost 90,000 songs – if a song selection by a team is in the library and available from ‘Soundchice’ that version will be played by default unless otherwise requested. If a song is selected that is not in our library it has to be available at Karaokedownloads.com. We cannot play songs from Karafun or Youtube because they are not licenced to be played for commercial use.
d. Alternates – We understand people schedules are not perfect, and on occasion having somebody fill in is a necessity. The rules regarding it is an individual alternate can fill in on a team a maximum of 3 times and is allowed to sing one solo over the course of the matches in which they participate.
e. Solos – Each team member is allowed a maximum of 3 solos per season
f. Participation – Teams must have a minimum of 3 team members present ( including one alternate) to be scored in a match. If a team has less than 3 team members they can still participate in performing but will be recorded as a scoreless forfeit.
g. Cancelation/postponement – Matches will be held as scheduled unless disrupted by an ‘act of god’ – in the event of this happening the match will be rescheduled on the next available Thursday.
h. Time Management – Matches will begin promptly at 7:15pm to ensure all teams get a fair share of performance time.
i. Songs from a Hat
i. Songs added to the hat do not have to be on theme
ii. Songs not sung yet remain in the hat week to week growing the number of songs in the hat
iii. Is a song is chosen that is already on the no fly list it cannot be resung, can be discarded and does not count in selection rules.
iv. All songs are given to the Commissioner unfolded, who will in turn fold every piece of paper the same way to ensure no unfair advantage.
j. Song Selection
i. Themes – each week has a theme. Each team has one opportunity to ask for justification once per match on an opposing teams song choice on fitting the theme. The team being questioned will then have to verbally ‘plead their case’, the deciding factor will be applause by the audience. If the argument is lost by the performing team – they will still be allowed to perform the song – but will take a 25% penalty on whatever their score is for that round alone.
ii. Once a song has been performed by any team that song is then on the ‘No Fly List’ for the rest of the regular season. Each team in the finals can chose to repeat one of their songs from the regular season if they so choose. The No Fly list will be updated and posted in the group after each match for reference.
