For nearly 100 years, Festival City Symphony has been dedicated to making live classical music accessible, welcoming, and inspiring for the Milwaukee community.

As Milwaukee’s oldest performing symphony orchestra, our mission goes beyond the stage. Through free and family-friendly performances, educational connections, and collaborations with local artists and organizations, we strive to make music something everyone can experience and enjoy.

Our orchestra is made up of passionate professional musicians, many of whom also serve as educators and mentors throughout Milwaukee’s schools, universities, and studios, helping inspire the next generation of musicians and music lovers.

From our beginnings as the Milwaukee Civic Symphony Orchestra to the community-centered organization we are today, we remain committed to bringing people together through the power of music.

This , we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country and reflect on the meaning behind the traditions that honor them.

Music has played a role in remembrance for many years. “Taps,” performed at military funerals and ceremonies since the Civil War, is a simple yet powerful tribute that signals rest and remembrance.

In contrast, “The Stars and Stripes Forever” reflects a sense of national pride and unity, often performed at patriotic events to honor the spirit of those who served.

At , we recognize how music helps tell these stories by connecting history, emotion, and community across generations.

Here’s something you might not know…

Festival City Symphony is Milwaukee’s oldest performing symphony orchestra and we’ve been sharing the beauty of classical music with the community for nearly 100 years!

Formerly known as the Milwaukee Civic Symphony Orchestra, we officially became Festival City Symphony in 1994 with a debut concert at the historic Pabst Theater. Since then, we’ve continued our mission of making music free, accessible, and unforgettable for all.

From local collaborations to inspiring performances by professional musicians who also teach across Milwaukee, we’re proud to be a vital thread in the city’s vibrant arts scene.
