If you’ve been around the intersection of N. King Dr. and North Ave., you may have noticed something new at the bus shelters. That’s right—BCA is getting ready to unveil a new exhibition!

Starting September 24, 2026, at Gallery 507, BCA is proud to present Building Bronzeville: Milwaukee’s Black Arts Movement.

This exhibition celebrates the generation of Black creatives who helped make Milwaukee—and particularly Bronzeville—an important regional center of the global Black Arts Movement.

Bronzeville continues to grow, and Building Bronzeville offers us an opportunity to reflect on the legacy of those who came before us, celebrate their contributions, and consider how we can continue to develop and build Bronzeville for generations to come.

As we get closer to the opening, BCA is excited to share more about this powerful exhibition and the stories behind it.

Last Saturday, August 22, artists Khari Turner and Tyanna Buie appeared at Gee’s Clippers for an inspiring conversation as part of the “Milwaukee Made: From Here to the National Stage” program.

In partnership with the Milwaukee Art Museum, African American Art Alliance, Portrait Society Gallery, and Chipstone Foundation, BCA was proud to collaborate with Khari and Tyanna for this special gathering at Gee’s Clipppers.

The artists shared candid and insightful stories about their journeys from Milwaukee to the national stage, and guests listened, connected, and left with plenty to think about.

A special thank you to all of our partners who helped make this program possible. We are honored to have worked with two exceptional national artists and look forward to future opportunities to collaborate with Khari Turner and Tyanna Buie!

Artist Martine Syms has something special coming soon...

On Thursday, September 10th at 6:30 pm, for ONE NIGHT only, Martine Syms' () film "The African Desperate" will be screened at the Oriental Theatre on Milwaukee's East side!

In collaboration with Sculpture Milwaukee, BCA has had the honor of presenting Syms' installation practice within the Bronzeville corridor. In addition to being a fine artist, Syms is also powerful director and videographer, capturing compelling stories through grit, humor, and social commentary. This upcoming screening is a perfect opportunity to experience her craft.

The Bronzeville Center for the Arts (BCA) is proud to introduce From the Ground Up, a new national speaker series bringing prominent leaders who have built some of the world's most significant cultural institutions to Milwaukee for candid conversations about vision, resilience, and legacy.

Produced in collaboration with the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Chipstone Foundation, our inaugural event features Lonnie G. Bunch III, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution and founding director of the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

This Friday, August 14th, join us for an incredible and exciting Artist Talk and Movement Workshop with artist Ciarra K. Walters () right here in Bronzeville! As her exhibition Above, Below, Within comes to a close, the artist is facilitating one last program for YOU to join!

Whether you’re an artist, art enthusiast, or a curious mind, this upcoming program is a perfect opportunity for you to learn and explore how the body responds to movements that channel different responses.

On July 30, 2026, BCA was pleased to welcome the Wisconsin Bike Federation (WBF) to our space!

During their visit, the WBF used our facility to host a youth zine workshop. Participants had the opportunity to explore our facility, view our current exhibition, and enjoy the artwork throughout BCA.

The WBF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering and connecting communities by advancing biking and walking using education, advocacy, and infrastructure. Their work focuses on creating safer, more accessible spaces to support cyclists and pedestrians across Wisconsin.

We were honored to host this inspiring organization and look forward to welcoming them back in the future!

Bronzeville Week launched on Aug 2nd, 2026, and we were proud to be part of the celebration!

The Bronzeville Week launch festival had something for everyone. Live performances by local bands kept the energy high all day, while games, activities, and community engagement brought people together in the true spirit of Bronzeville. This celebration really showed what Bronzeville is and what we can do as a strong community.

We look forward to celebrating the rest of Bronzeville Week together. So come over this week to Bronzeville! Plenty of activities and events by local businesses will be available for you to participate in—we hope to see you there!
