This commissioned dice bag was the best and worst of times. The fabrics were finicky and hard to work with, but you can't argue with the gorgeous end results.

The outside was a monochrome black with a raised leaf pattern from Mood Fabrica and the inside was a beautiful watercolor galaxy from Geek Garden Fabric. The combination of the two was perfect.

All of the dice you see in the picture can in fact fit inside. This bag is truly massive. Hopefully it will have room for new dice for a couple of years before they outgrow it ๐Ÿคฃ

Every year for our anniversary (in July), my husband and I commission art of our family (usually based on whatever art style I'm into that year).

Since cross stitch was a major theme in my crafting, I commissioned a pattern from Overflow Creative . While I ended up using it as a *very* loose guideline, I wouldn't have gotten here without it.

It did take me a while to finish it, but it absolutely perfectly reflects our family. I love it almost as much as I love us.

Happy 4th anniversary! Have you found the pineapple yet?

With the new year, I really want to work on my basic skills. Since I am mostly self-taught, I skipped over a lot of the foundational work for drawing. I've never been great at sketching base shapes and poses before diving in; I'm working on slowing down and paying attention to what a body actually looks like.

With these figure drawings I was really paying attention to proportions and angles and just kind of the shapes found in bodies. I'm hoping with enough practice my hand will start to naturally do those shapes and it will help me in the long run.

I found two of the reference figures on Line-of-Action.com and pulled the third from a donated reference photo.

A simple necklace to bring this outfit together.

The last few months have been tough on me creatively but I'm slowly getting back into my groove.

These wings might be the most magnificent thing I've ever created. Every new addition to the creation made them so much better, and I couldn't help feeling in awe that I made something so beautiful.

Made even better is that when debuted, a little girl looked at my friend in wonder at having met a real live fairy. There were definitely tears.

I love being able to make the things I see in my head exist in real life. With these wings, I not only made something beautiful, I made my friend's desire to be an actual fairy come to life.

They are worth every second of late nights and sore hands from bending wire. They are literally a dream come to life.

(Shout out to Aaron for soldering!)

Joe: Hey Katie, don't you have a million things on your to-do list specifically to do before Saturday?

Me: I'm so glad you asked. I do have a million things to do.

J: So what are you doing now?

M: Making a dress

J: Was that on your list? ๐Ÿค”

M: No, but it'll be a real quick dress! Couple hours top. I saw this fabric and I'm going to look so cute.....

Why am I like this?

Happy Pride! To celebrate, I made a panelled rainbow dress with a very twirly skirt. We forgot to take a video of me twirling but rest assured it happened many times during the day.

This is one of my favorite dress patterns to make. It is so comfortable but looks very fancy.

I never know what to do in pictures so here I am looking adorably awkward.

I don't know why I'm like this. I decided not to use this pretty watercolor fabric because it was a pain to sew with. So what did I decide to do? Pair it with an even more finicky fabric and make a tank top. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

If your name is Kat and you're reading this, stop. Everything is fine; no worries!

You ever make something really cool, and then a couple years later somebody's like hey, can you make me one of those really cool things? And you say sure because you've made it before so clearly you're capable of it. But after you've agreed, you remember that your brain is full of peanuts half the time, and you don't remember how you made the darn thing. So now you're spending a lot of time trying to recreate the magic you made easily the first time. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Sunflower Mermaid v.2

This watercolor was a year in the making. I drew the digital version in April of 2021 for my friend's birthday. It was always my intention to make a watercolor version but I chickened out.

One year later, I'm more confident in my watercolor skills and decided it was time. It's not perfect, but overall, I love it. It's really cool the differences that mediums let you do. I have more plans in the future to make more digital and watercolor versions of things.

I also used this opportunity to christen my new desk. We bought a house in October, and I have a whole room for crafting. It's taken me a while for me to unpack and get all the furniture built, but now, it's go time.
