Revival House’s 9th Annual Horror Trailer Challenge call for films

Milton, Delaware — Horror film fans unite as it’s time to gear up for the Revival House’s ninth annual Horror Trailer Challenge at the Milton Theatre on Sunday, October 25. Doors open at 1:30 pm, with festivities kicking off at 2 pm. Filmmakers of all levels are encouraged to uncage their creativity with original horror movie trailers, and viewers are invited to witness an evening of macabre moviemaking.

On Friday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. the Revival House will post on Facebook announcing a specific line of dialogue and an item that must be included in all participating entrants. From there, all participants will have until midnight on Oct. 23 to submit their trailer for consideration.

Submitting a film is free, and local filmmakers from around the region will compete for cash prizes. Winners must be present to accept their awards. Trailers should not exceed three minutes in length.

“The Horror Trailer Challenge continues to be one of our favorite events,” said Rob Rector, co-founder of The Revival House. “It allows filmmakers to show off their skills, get creative in a short timeframe, and test the limits of their imagination.” Co-founder Rob Waters added, “Every year, I am amazed at the level of filmmaking we receive for the event. We are fortunate to have such talented filmmakers in our area.”

Doors for the event will open at 1:30 p.m., with the trailers to start screening at 2 p.m. Throughout the evening, the audience will be asked to vote for their top three submissions and, after the votes are tabulated, the evening’s winners will be announced.

The evening will be capped off with a Q&A session with all the filmmakers, who are invited to share their experiences of crafting their creations with the crowd and network with one another. “Even if you don’t have a film entered, it’s a blast to witness and celebrate our area filmmakers and see what they are capable of creating,” added Rector. “We are constantly surprised by the submissions every single year.”
Tickets for the event are available now through the Milton Theatre website. More information will be available on the Revival House website at therevivalhouseteater.com.

Happy summer, gang! We just wanted to pop in with a quick update. Rob and Rob are going to hit the pause button on this year's outdoor screening at Hudson Fields. We love this event and want to do a good job with it, but we have both been burning the candle at both ends this summer and could really use the time to devote to our numerous other responsibilities.

We have everything in motion for an amazing themed outdoor screening for next summer! And we are still dedicating our time to promote our other upcoming events, such as the Horror Trailer Challenge in October.

We are sorry if this puts a dent in anyone's plans but we promise we're not going anywhere, just taking a little breather.

Thanks for your understanding and we are stoked to host the trailer competition in October!

Cheers!
The Robs

What the hell, gang?! Here we were on a Wednesday night before the crush of the Memorial Day weekend, and we nearly FILLED the entire Milton Theatre!!! We were so overwhelmed and, more importantly, proud to be able to host such an amazing array of local filmmakers for our little film festival.

A big congrats to Josh Kline, whose film 'Space Hero,' was the much-deserved winner of the Audience Award. Kline shared the stage with about 17 other local talented filmmakers, ranging from first-time directors to seasoned professionals.

It was such an amazing night, and we are so thankful for the turnout and all the hard work and effort from the filmmakers this year.

We are currently in the works for our big end-of-summer screening at Hudson Fields in August (more to come on that later), as well as a pretty awesome collaborative filmmaking competition with The Listening Booth on the horizon. In other words, stay tuned. We've got lots of ideas ahead!

Congrats to all who participated last night and for the combination of new and familiar faces from such a wonderfully rich, eclectic, talented community of filmmakers we have here in little Slower Lower Delaware!

Hey Folks, we're gearing up for tomorrow's big 10th Annual Slower Lower Film Festival at the Milton Theatre. We wanted to share a little taste of the 20 films we can't wait to show you. Doors open at 6pm, films start at 7pm and a Q & A with filmmakers after. Until then, enjoy the teaser W Films came up with.
