Sally O'Sullivan is preparing for her 1776 showcase idea.... details to follow once things are set.

She is seeking 5 male singers to perform selected songs from the musical.

We also would love a keyboardist...

There may be more than just singing but we are still in the brainstorming phase.

I'll be submitting paperwork to the town once we have the time set but the performance will be at the Gazebo at the Jefferson Twp Public Library on the 4th of July.

Today isn't going to work (filming duties) so we can try for June 13th at 2 pm.

I have no specific plans for this summer yet. I have things to take care of at home that take priority. If summer doesn't work out, there's always the fall but the caveat being the shows have to happen before my son's midterms since it gets very busy on the latter half of his semesters.

A lot comes down to timing... there's so much I'd like to do but it's been rather a challenge to make things happen.

I had a vision back in 2019 of developing teen talent to have multi-generational shows and to have many projects over the season so there'd be a little something for everyone between intimate smaller dramas and big comedies and musicals. I'd hoped to do visiting workshops at the elementary schools and tour the assisted living circuit. It would be fun to offer acting classes or scene study workshops for adults starting out or wanting to build on their skillset. I loved my time with Uncorked and Unprepared Players and hoped to build a fresh improv team.

Anthony's and my Christmas Carol with live sound effects was so well received and we had plans to do more live fx shows with better sound equipment but then the pandemic hit. Aaron wanted to do kid plays but his work schedule makes it challenging to set up. Members aged out with health issues or had to take care of spouses or kids with serious needs, moved to other states or decided to pursue other interests, and one passed away. Or some I thought might stay were just trying it out for fun (nothing wrong with that at all).

I have been discouraged at times, but then I take a deep breath and carry on. So we're in a quieter phase for now but I know when my time frees up eventually, I'll be able to coordinate and produce with my full attention. I've been doing theatre in one form or another since I was 4 years old. (actor, writer, crew, stage mgr, director) I'm thankful that even with my covid limitations, I didn't lose the ability to do what I love.

I need a team and I welcome all who wish to have fun and make memorable performances the community can enjoy.

With nearly no feedback about utilizing the Lodge for something else, and realizing I've been getting over pneumonia (how I didn't know is beyond me and yet perfectly plausible considering everything else going on....) and as much as I'd like to do something at the Lodge, it's just beyond my capabilities at this present moment in time. With no one else stepping up, I have to let it go. I am incredibly fatigued. I even considered having a birthday party but honestly can't muster the energy.

However, not all is grim as we look to the future and I hope to embarck on some new projects. We will reconvene for Help Desk with auditions (to replace one and possibly grow the cast more) in late April/early May and it looks like the June dates are agreeable so I'll see if I can get reservations made, change the license, etc. Clearly, the summer is better for anything considering our current blizzard/hurricane mess and the likelihood of more storms before the season concludes. I had thought a March show would cheer people out of their winter funk but Winter had its own ideas.

I have thoughts for a summer show, something family oriented. Not sure yet about Christmas in the Village. Maybe something musical? Since the usual isn't attracting folks, maybe changing it up will?

Ok, I need a nap. Stay safe, everyone. Hugs!

Greetings, JCP fam! Today is monthly meeting day! Let's stay warm and stay home, lol.

There's not much to update but one important thing is due to various health issues and/or some deaths in the family, 1 member suddenly needed to back out, and 3 other cast members are needing to pause activities for the moment so we are moving Help Desk most likely to June. I would also like to expand the cast so I will hold auditions in early May. The show has a minimum requirement of 4, but can go up to as many as 30. Details TBD.

I would like to still use at least one of the March 14-15 dates at the Camp Jefferson Lodge if possible. We could host a Game Night, or have a JCP party (it's been a long time....). We could bring back Women's History Month activity if we had people ready to go to prepare something with me.

Would anyone out there like to participate in either a Game Night for the community, or help put together a Women's History activity? We would need to jump into it next weekend. Otherwise, I might just hold an acting workshop with theatre games and some scene study.

In the meantime, it's Valentine's Day! Hug a loved one and spread some love.... Smile at strangers and be kind in your daily routine. We all carry a light inside, let it shine!

(I do recommend checking out "Scarlet" at the AMC Rockaway this weekend.... it's the latest from Mamoru Hosoda who directed "Belle," "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time," "Mirai," and others. It's fantastic! Hamlet meets Japanse philosophy....revenge vs forgiveness... And the ending song is so exquisitely beautiful. I was crying. John loved the film too!)

We could use an extra actor or two for Help Desk, a collection of comedic short scenes which will be performed at Camp Jefferson in Lake Hopatcong the weekend of March 14 (evening) and 15 (matinee).

We are seeking someone (m or f) in their 20s to 40s, who is versatile with the ability to create multiple distinct characters, and who is available on weekends, 2-5 pm (Sat/Sun). Rehearsals are at the Milton Senior Center on Schoolhouse Rd.

If interested, please email Susie Wright at [email protected].

Rehearsal cancelled today due to snow. One of my boys came back from work an hour ago and said it's very slippery out there. He's not keen on driving to his other job.

Sorry for the delay in posting. I'm recovering from food poisoning. Been sleeping a lot. I'm ok though. Fever is gone and I'm eating bland foods.

My understanding is the snow tomorrow will be light. So let's try for 2 pm tomorrow. Otherwise, we can meet at the library on Mon or I can simply mail scripts out.
