Rocky Mountain Sport Riders (RMSR) is incredibly honored to be the new owner of the 40-person starting gate from Two Rivers Racing in Milliken, CO.
We are so grateful to Dave and the Leahy family for donating this special piece of history to us! This starting gate was used for 30 years at the Milliken track, and before that it was at the Berthoud track. So many people who grew up racing in Colorado have special memories of this gate and the events, and we'd love to hear the stories! And now, this gate will continue its legacy at Dry Lake Motocross Park!
We are so thankful to everyone who contributed to the major undertaking of moving this gate from Milliken to Gypsum last weekend. It couldn't have happened without all of you! Thank you to Matt with Vail Extreme Rentals for loaning us your trailer. Thank you Spencer for the truck and picking up the trailer. Thank you Bob for spending your whole Saturday and part of Sunday on this adventure, and for the winter storage, service, and repair of the gate. Thank you Ben, Jon, Katie, and Marissa for meeting us on site to disassemble and move the gate. Thank you Bob, Jonnie, and Spencer for helping unload the gate on Sunday.
We are excited to get this gate installed up at the track next season. Let me know if anyone can help with that project! We will need volunteers, cement work and/or railroad ties, doghouse construction, donations of materials, etc.
We will announce when the gate gets set up so that everyone can come line up behind it once again!
