** Retirement Announcement for Dusty **

After working for nearly 7 years, today marks Dusty’s last day… she’s officially a retiree!

Did you know…

In 2019, Harvard Police Chief (now Ret.) Ed Denmark trusted my vision and said yes to starting HPD’s first Comfort Dog Program.

In January 2020, after a lengthy process, Dusty were matched at NEADS Dogs … right when the pandemic hit and shut every thing down. It was a hidden blessing that gave us time to bond & build a foundation for what would become an incredible journey together.

Once Dusty and I were able to get out into the community, the Comfort Dog program was an instant success. She had a way of connecting with people that was unique and special.

Working alongside Dusty for the past (almost) 7 years has easily been the best part of my career. I am so grateful for every person, family, student, officer and community member who welcomed her and allowed her to make a difference in their lives.

I’m also very thankful to Chief Brian Lewos for welcoming Dusty to the Millbury Police Department, where she was able to continue the work she loved as a Community Resource Dog.

I am forever grateful for the opportunity to share Dusty with so many and for the privilege of calling her my partner.
