Audition Announcement for The Cottage by Sandy Rustin!

Friday, January 16th: 6:00pm - 7:00pm
Sunday, January 18th: 7:00pm to 8:00pm
Play Synapsis - Sylvia and Beau find themselves in an English countryside cottage for their yearly rendezvous, and Sylvia knows this time it will be the beginning of their new life together. But when Beau demurs on a shared future, and their spouses arrive at the cottage, she realizes that this home-away-from-home is a refuge for determining a new path forward and decides to expose her love affair to her husband and her lover’s wife. With a tip of the hat to Noël Coward and s*x comedies of the past, The Cottage offers a perfect showcase for six actors with endless laughs, hilarious twists, daring physical comedy and a happy ending for lovers everywhere. The true meaning of fate, identity and marriage are called into question as a surprising, hilarious web of secrets unravels in this ridiculous, potentially murderous, uncharacteristically feminist 1923 British tale of s*x, betrayal and love.
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
SYLVIA VAN KIPNESS: Mid 20’s-40’s, any ethnicity, female- A “lovely and rash romantic”. Feminine, yet strong-willed, Sylvia's attempts at true love leave her frustrated and ever hopeful for a shocking turn of events.
* This role requires moments of physical intimacy (kissing, intimate touch, moments of romantic chemistry/passion when touch is not needed.)
* This role also requires moments of physical violence (slapping)
BEAU: Mid 20’s-Late 40’s, any ethnicity, male- “Perhaps the best looking man in Britain” Logical to the point of pessimism. Beau is the type of fellow quite happy with the status quo, no matter what the status quo may be.
* This role requires moments of physical intimacy (kissing, intimate touch, moments of romantic chemistry/passion.)
MARJORIE: Mid 20’s-40’s, any ethnicity, female- EXTREMELY PREGNANT (8 Months), pragmatic and a tad spicy. Unflappable in every sense of the word. Unless of course, she's in labor.

CLARKE: Mid 20’s-Late 40’s, any ethnicity, male- Distinguished gent with a lover’s spirit. Always aiming to please, Clarke's kind-heartedness may lead others to take him for a fool.

DIERDRE: 20’s-30’s, any ethnicity, female- An awfully pretty, sometimes wise, nincompoop. Gullible is Diedre's middle name. She's awfully sweet though, if you like that sort of thing. Surprisingly capable of unexpected clarity and insight.)

RICHARD 30’s-40’s, any ethnicity, male- A “murderous, yet gentle soul.” Born to be half of a soul-mated duo, Richard is hell-bent on finding and keeping his true love (no matter what).
