Milan Theatre Co.

Some things are worth building together. Like live theatre, and a thriving arts culture right here in Milan. ✨

This summer, Milan Theatre Company brought its very first production to life, with creativity and ingenuity both on stage and back stage, and wonderful support from our community. And there's more to come...

Our First Act Society is a one-time opportunity to invest in the future of local theatre—and be permanently recognized as one of the people who helped make it possible.

Membership begins at just $50 and is open only through December 31, 2026.

There will only ever be one First Act.

This year, Milan Theatre Company went from an idea to something real. We built an organization, gathered a community, and produced our very first show.

But we're only getting started.

The First Act Society was created to recognize the people and businesses who choose to invest in Milan Theatre Company during our inaugural year.

Every financial gift and sponsorship made during 2026 counts toward membership—including gifts you've already made.

And unlike a typical donor program, this one won't come around again.

Membership closes permanently on December 31, 2026.

Years from now, when we look back at how Milan Theatre Company began, the First Act Society will tell the story of the people who were there at the beginning.

We'd love for your name to be among them. Donate here: https://givebutter.com/first-act-society-hfqn2h

Ariel needs YOUR help to earn her freedom!

Please visit the official 2026 Scarecrows on Main post and cast your vote for Ariel, Reborn. Important: your vote only counts if it's made on the official 2026 Scarecrows on Main post.

Meet Ariel, Reborn

In Shakespeare's The Tempest, Ariel is an airy spirit who conjures storms, vanishes at will, and drifts through the island on music and light. Bound to serve Prospero, Ariel longs for one thing: to be set free and become something new.

We built our scarecrow around that idea.

Nearly everything about our Ariel was once headed for the trash. Like Shakespeare's spirit, each piece was bound to a single purpose and then forgotten, until it got a second chance. Together, they became something light, graceful, and alive again. Ariel is reborn, and so is everything that went into her. The only thing we bought was the lights, her spark. ✨

Sometimes the best magic comes from seeing possibility in what others would throw away. Ariel, a spirit who knows a thing or two about transformation, would surely approve.

Well, look at us taking our first bow. 💫

Thanks, The Sun Times News, for telling our story!

What began as a conversation among a handful of Milan theater enthusiasts earlier this year became a full-scale production Aug. 27, when the newly formed Milan Theatre Co. presented Shakespeare’s The Tempest. In 2022, songwriter and theater lover Michele McGovern, who previously served as executi...

And that’s a wrap.

The storm has passed. The island is quiet. The lights have gone dark, the set is down, and The Tempest is officially in the books.

Thank you to EVERYONE who supported Milan Theatre Company’s very first production in any and every way—onstage, backstage, in the audience, behind the scenes, through sponsorships and donations, by spreading the word, lending a hand, cheering us on, and simply believing that there should be a place for theatre here.

We worked hard. We took chances. We made mistakes. We learned so much. We laughed—a lot. We made a little magic.

And we did it.

We raised the curtain on Milan Theatre Company.

There will never be another first show. And we are so grateful to every single person who was part of ours.

The storm may be over, but our story is just beginning.

Until next time… ✨
