Thank you to our partners at The Preservation Society of Newport County for hosting our cast and crew for the first reading of "Loyalty or Liberty: Tales from Revolutionary Newport," kicking off our rehearsal process to bring three original plays to life about Hunter House. Following the reading, we visited the beautiful grounds of Hunter House, where we'll perform these plays this summer from June 30 - September 1. Check out the beautiful bay view!

There’s something supercharged about creating theatre on the sites where the stories took place. Not only do Plays in Place artists engage with history and embody historical personages, the artistic process is enriched through deep interaction with the sites themselves.

This picture shows the first read through of The Slippery Truth, on-site at Old New-Gate Prison and Copper Mine in East Granby CT. At this rehearsal , cast members were able to tour of the museum, and the curator offered some background on the prison break that is covered in the play - which happened on May 18, 1781 - 245 years ago almost to the day of the read through.
