My children, Randi and Ross, and I found that we enjoyed visiting some of our local art galleries. On one visit the kids saw some metal yard art and they said 'you could do that dad'. So we went home and I made my first piece, a giraffe. That was in 1998 and I've been making metal art sculptures since then. I strive for originality and quality in every piece and hope to make them as long as I can.

Well, once again I've neglected my posting duties for some time so here's a few things that are fairly recent. Also, although I haven't been recording lately, you can still hear my original songs on Bandcamp by going to my Arl Kay page and please consider following me there, Thanks.

Some of you know that I make metal art. Few of you know that for about a decade now another passion of mine has been making original music at home. I've recently uploaded 10 instrumental songs, under the pseudonym Arl Kay, to Bandcamp, an online music store. Because I don't play live, I have no followers and I could use a little push. The way my account is set right now you can listen to three songs free. If you're at all interested, check it out, listen and follow and/or share if you are so inclined, and thanks for reading this! RK
(p.s.-Bandcamp is a great place to discover some great music!)

Once again I'm way behind in posting but I have been pretty busy in my shop. On may 7th Ingrid and I delivered my piece "Joe Galaxy" to Clare where it was installed on one of their downtown streets in front of Rays Bike Shop. "Joe" is a robot that is riding a kind of steampunkish 'trike". "Joe", along with 9 other pieces that were selected from over 60 entries and will on display for a year! So get to Clare and check out all the sculptures! I've attached some images of "Joe" here along with some new things I hope folks like.

So I lost one of my keys in the yard the other day and someone must have found it and hung in a tree so I would see it. I can't believe I haven't posted since May. I've been chained to my welder 24/7 and only let out for an occasional Impossible burger. I, with much help from Ingie have done 3 outdoor events so far this summer and I'm beginning to remember why I swore I wouldn't do them anymore. Here's a quick pic of the small yard display area I've been setting up here at home and. I have a number of new items to post but I'm not quite ready yet so please, stay tuned.
