For October’s demo meeting, Lana Privitera returned to work on her tulip watercolor previously started in September’s demo. We were excited to have her back for another month! She spoke about reflections, shadows, and achieving the right blends/ mixes of colors in her paints. Her thorough explanations were extremely helpful for our members to learn from. Thank you again, ! Lana Privitera was our demonstration artist today. She shared with us her process on how she sketches her watercolor subjects and meticulously plans how she will paint them. Our members got a thorough explanation of her methods, and we are fortunate enough that she will be returning next month for “part 2” of her demonstration. She will continue her painting then. Come and join the Middletown Art Group as we hold our reception for our annual show at SUNY Orange/ OCCC today, 5/17/26. Our show runs through June 17. In addition to our regular show, MAG turns 80 this year and we are celebrating with an additional exhibit, “How Time Flies”, which is located on the back fringe wall at our OCCC exhibit. This Sunday, March 15, at 12:00pm at the Mulberry House Senior Center, Marilyn Rose will share her secret to creating fresh, loose watercolors using photos as reference (rather than copying a photo). As she does her painting demonstration, a winter scene, she will talk about how to plan a composition, how decide which elements to include and how to use a more limited palette of colors to create a harmonious painting that seems to paint itself.
