SUNY Orange Community Orchestra

The SUNY Orange Orchestra rehearses on Thursdays (8:00-9:45), and performs at the Paramount Theatre. at 845-341-4787.

The 65-piece orchestra is dedicated to performing and promoting orchestral music from the standard and contemporary repertoires at a high artistic level. The orchestra rehearses and performs at the historic Paramount Theatre, located at 17 South St, Middletown, New York. In addition to bringing quality orchestral programs to Orange County, the orchestra seeks to promote musical growth in younger

musicians by sponsoring an annual Concerto/Aria contest in which winners are granted the opportunity to perform a musical or vocal solo during the orchestra's spring concert. The competition is open to all Orange County high school students and to all Orange County Community College students. Applications are available through Orange County high school music directors and through the Arts and Communication Dept. Snow caused cancelation of day classes at SUNY Orange today, but evening classes are going on as scheduled. If you are apprehensive about travel tonight, please let the conductor know that you won't be attending tonight's rehearsal.

If you haven't applied yet for the 2025 SUNY Orange Concerto/Aria Contest, then get your application in soon.– The deadline is 4:00PM, Thursday, December 12, 2024. Print and fill out the top half of the form below, and mail or deliver it to Richard Simons: c/o Arts and Communication Dept., – SUNY Orange, 115 South Street, Middletown, NY 10940, or email to: [email protected]. The competition will be in Orange Hall, on the SUNY Orange campus, on the morning of January 11, 2025.
