A small story about community
Below is an excerpt from the May newsletter, The Ambassador, for First United Methodist Church. It highlights how a community can come together to achieve meaningful goals.
"...Pastor Karen has had the idea of bringing in the Easter flowers for quite some time, so finally this year we decided to do it. Her idea was to create the unpredictable feeling of that first Easter - not being sure what to expect or know what was happening...."
So, in mid‑March, Mary Ellen Clinard who many times serves as MLT'S music directo and also serves as Worship Director at FUMC approached members of MLT about a project their pastor hoped to bring to life for the church’s Easter celebration. The request was to create a representation of the Lord’s tomb to support Pastor Karen’s vision.
After several conversations about how best to approach the task, members of MLT and church volunteers got to work. What emerged was not only a beautiful vision and lasting memory for the congregation, but also a testament to what can happen when two organizations devoted to community, art, and fellowship join forces.
