One of the best parts of Good Neighbor Festival isn't even put on by Good Neighbor Festival. It is the Mayor's Breakfast hosted annually by the Mayor with assistance from the city.

Vera Bauman, wife of our second mayor and huge supporter of the festival, started the tradition with Mayor Wally Bauman. In those days, the Baumans cooked the breakfast themselves!

This year's breakfast was hosted by Mayor Janairo at Lakeview Park. She thanked our incredible sponsors, local and state officials, trustees and volunteers.

Festival President Jessica Stone gave Good Neighbor Awards to Brian Drunasky, Erin Summers, Amy Sanderson, and Kevin Mahaney. Kromrey Principal Dom Ricks was honored as our 2026 Parade Marshal.

Thank you Mayor Janairo for an excellent time and a yummy breakfast!

Talk about a good neighbor—and a great mow-bilization effort! 🌱

A huge thank-you to Middleton Farmers Cooperative for supplying the lawn care equipment we need to tidy up South Beach after the Good Neighbor Festival. With their help, we’ll return the grounds to Middleton High School looking less like “three-day beach party” and more like “you’d never know we were here.”

Thanks for helping us make sure the only lasting impressions from festival weekend are great memories—not tire tracks! 🚜💚

The Good Neighbor Award is given to Middleton residents who exemplify outstanding community spirit, volunteerism, and dedication to making Middleton a better place. This year, the festival’s executive committee selected these outstanding neighbors from a very competitive field of nominations. Please join us in congratulating Kevin Mahaney as one of our 2026 class of Good Neighbors.

Kevin Mahaney has helped shape Middleton through decades of civic leadership, relationship-building, and quiet generosity. When the City of Middleton needed community support to make Stone Horse Green a reality, Kevin became an early champion of the project and a key member of its capital campaign. Drawing on the trust he had earned across Middleton, he spent a year meeting with residents and business leaders, answering concerns, and sharing a compelling vision for a gathering place that would strengthen downtown. His persistence helped bring the fundraising campaign to a successful conclusion, creating acivic space that will serve the community for years to come. Kevin has also volunteered for decades withthe Middleton Area Development Corporation and has been active in the Chamber of Commerce. A retired commercial lender, he has advocated for technology companies and small neighborhood businesses alike, recognizing that a diverse local economy strengthens Middleton. Just as importantly, Kevin treats people of every background with dignity and kindness. His leadership, encouragement, and willingness to help others exemplify the spirit of a true good neighbor.

The Good Neighbor Award is given to Middleton residents who exemplify outstanding community spirit, volunteerism, and dedication to making Middleton a better place. This year, the festival’s executive committee selected these outstanding neighbors from a very competitive field of nominations. Please join us in congratulating Amy Sanderson, one of our 2026 class of Good Neighbors.

Amy Sanderson has quietly served the Middleton community for decades through faithful volunteerism, support for children, and care for her neighbors. For nearly 20 years, beginning when WayForward Resources was known as Middleton Outreach Ministry, she has volunteered every week in its food and clothing pantry, helping residents access essentials with consistency and compassion. Amy has also donated platelets through the American Red Cross for more than a decade. Within the Middleton-CrossPlains Area School District, she is a sought-after substitute educational aide who frequently accepts longterm assignments supporting children with significant educational and behavioral needs. Before beginning that work, she regularly volunteered at Sauk Trail Elementary, helping organize events for students and staff. Amy also helps plan and carry out Rally on the Runway, an annual charity event benefiting the Fond Blanc Organization. Close to home, she plans, plants, and maintains a small garden at Waconia and Elm Lanes for the whole neighborhood to enjoy. Amy's steady generosity makes Middleton more caring, welcoming, and beautiful.
