This morning Josh spent about an hour sketching, and this is what came from it. No tracing, no shortcuts—just a pencil, a sketchbook, and years of artistic passion.

People see the finished tattoos every day, but it all starts with the ability to draw, create, and bring ideas to life from a blank page.

This painting was created by Josh’s great-grandmother, Rosa Brooks Beason, an Appalachian folk artist whose work earned recognition beyond the mountains she called home.

Most people know Josh for his tattoos. What many don’t know is that art was part of his story long before he ever picked up a tattoo machine.

As a kid, he spent countless hours drawing portraits with charcoal and pencil. He entered local art competitions, won at county fairs, and filled sketchbook after sketchbook. Long before there was Addicted Ink, there was just a kid with paper and pencil, and a dream.

Today, he has the opportunity to be recognized on a national stage as The People’s Artist.

When you vote for Josh, you’re not just voting for a tattoo artist. You’re supporting a lifelong artist whose roots run deep in Appalachia and whose family legacy of creativity stretches back generations.

From a winter cabin painted by his great-grandmother to the artwork he creates today, the story has always been the same:
