I finished my chair project. I spent just about 20 hours recaning this Boston Rocker. It is nice to sit in and has a good rocking action. Will I do another one? I think that it will have to be a very special chair for me to want to do this again. 🌿

Well, I started work on the diagonals today. It looks so good! 8 hours later and I still have to put the trim/edge piece on. Is it supposed to take this long? I am 15 hours into this. My hands hurt 🌿

I spent the day at the Eric Sloane Museum in Kent, CT tying brooms. Alan Curboy guided us through a set of 5 brooms and I know that I learned alot and that I met some really nice people today. I never take enough pictures but here is one of Alan getting things ready for us.

Today's broom🌿
I needed a sweeper for my studio so I worked this out. I used a little bit of Meckley rainbow broom corn to add color and I plaited the top.

I went to Broom Camp today! Ok it was on Zoom but we all sat together in community, making brooms at the Broom Witch Academy with our teacher Jennifer of Brooms By Jenza and The Broom Closet. What a clever idea and an excellent use of the internet. My creations from today 🌿

Today I attended a broom workshop that was hosted by Grow Northampton and was taught by Faith Deering of Florence. We made a little cobwebber whisk with a plaited handle, heard some of the history of broom making and shared community. I learned some new techniques and most importantly reminded myself that it's nice to venture out of my little cave every now and then. 🌿🧹
