We are halfway through MCMC’s first ever Practice-a-thon! 🏃🎺💛

"When parents say how long should my student practice, I advise that it really depends on learning style and efficiency! Just do it! Practice includes lessons, performance, other instruments, listening to repertoire, going to hear others play music." - Emily Sunderman, violinist and violin teacher

There’s a buzz in the air over at 6 Main about all the practicing! We’re all in it together, and we’re rooting each other on as we learn and support one another as a community. 📣 Thanks to all participants and those who have already pledged or made a donation. All funds raised go towards MCMC's scholarship fund.

[May Blog]: What's the Difference Between Repetition and Learning?

This month, MCMC Executive Director Sadie Brightman is committing to practice every day in the month of May, right alongside our practice-a-thon champions!

"I am going for quality over quantity, and the best framework I know - deliberate practice - is too good not to share. I’ve taken students through this method in one-on-one lessons whether they’re aware of it or not, and I’m excited to share it more broadly as something that may resonate across other areas of life, like athletic training, parenting, or any kind of goal-oriented work. "

🎺MCMC 2026 Jazz Camp: July 27-31 🎷

Jazz Camp is an immersive week for musicians ages 12-18 interested in jazz ensemble playing and improvisation.

"One of the things that I most love about jazz camp is that I always come away from camp having learned something new. Sometimes it something that another instructor has to offer and sometimes it’s from a discovery or observation as student has to offer." - Glendon Ingalls, Jazz Camp Director

MCMC invites young musicians interested in learning more about jazz to join us for this unique mid-summer musical offering. Run by MCMC's celebrated teaching faculty Glendon Ingalls (trumpet, bass), Ron White (bass), Miles Donahue (saxes, trumpet, piano), and Rob Zollman (percussion), Jazz Camp is a great opportunity for students who enjoy ensemble playing, are curious about improvisation, and are ready to engage deeply with jazz. The week culminates in a public performance at the Town Hall Theater Maloney Plaza, giving campers the experience of sharing their work in a professional performance setting.
