Every one of these people has a day job. Come see what they built.

Let's talk about the dress.

Every one of us has either worn one or made five friends wear one. Taffeta. A color with a name like "dusty rose" that is not a color found in nature. A bow somewhere it should not be. Dyed shoes.

Tell us about the worst bridesmaid dress you ever wore. Photos strongly encouraged. We will not judge. The five women in our show would like you to know they understand completely.

Knoxville, Tennessee. An enormous wedding at an enormous house. Downstairs, four hundred guests and an open bar.

Upstairs, in a bedroom, five bridesmaids in matching dresses have all quietly decided they are not going back down.

Over the next two hours they will discover they have far more in common than the fabric. Alan Ball, who went on to write American Beauty and Six Feet Under, wrote this in 1993 and it has been a favorite of theatres across the country ever since, because it is very funny for a long time and then, without warning, it is not funny at all, and then it is funny again.
