Detour on Triangle Loop- Vergennes to Bristol /New Haven portion

Plank Road in New Haven from Lime Kiln Road to North Street will be closed from August 31 - October 10 while a small bridge is being replaced. A detour taking Lime Kiln Rd to Quarry Rd will connect you to North Street further South toward New Haven Center. This detour is dirt road, but a very pretty route.

This is New Haven, Vermont. Between Plank Road and Route 17. Along or adjacent to the Triangle Bike Loop. A beautiful area to ride in.

Please join us for a Critical Mass ride on Wednesday, August 12, at 5:30 p.m. to honor Shiloh Skalka, a 16-year-old Burlington High School student who was killed while riding her bike July 16.

Shiloh leaves behind a legacy of kindness, selflessness, humor and a profound appreciation for the beauty of the world.

Meet at the corner of Pine and Locust Streets in Burlington, where there is a memorial for Shiloh. This ride is an opportunity to remember Shiloh, support her family, and stand together as a community in support of safer streets for everyone.

Like Shiloh, we will delight in feeling the wind and simple joy of experiencing the world around us. In her memory, we ride as one.

This just in from the Vergennes Police Department.

The Vergennes Police Department has received a number of questions about electric bicycles and electric scooters, including where they can be ridden and what rules apply.

To help clarify some of the confusion, we’ve put together this quick guide explaining the basic differences between Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 e-bikes, motor-assisted bicycles, and electric scooters under Vermont law.

One important point: not every device advertised as an “e-bike” or “electric scooter” is legally classified the same way. A device’s motor power, maximum speed, pedals, seat, and other design characteristics can affect where it may legally be operated and what requirements apply.

Regardless of what you ride, please remember to travel responsibly, obey traffic laws, watch for pedestrians, and use appropriate safety equipment. We especially encourage riders of all ages to wear a properly fitted helmet.

The attached guide provides a general overview and is intended as an educational resource. Laws and local regulations can change, so anyone with questions about a particular bicycle, scooter, or other electric device is welcome to contact the Vergennes Police Department.
