Middlebourne, WV โ Middlebourne Parks & Recreation is inviting residents, families, businesses, and visitors to come together for a special hometown celebration as the community honors Americaโs 250th Anniversary with "Middlebourne Celebrates America 250" on Saturday, July 4th.
The community-wide event will take place throughout Downtown Middlebourne and at the Stealey Green Family Center and will feature a full day of patriotic activities, family fun, entertainment, living history, and community fellowship celebrating 250 years of American freedom and Tyler Countyโs story.
One of the featured attractions will be the Middlebourne Celebrates America 250 Parade, which will begin at 1:00 PM on Main Street Middlebourne. Organizers are encouraging participation from community organizations, businesses, youth groups, veterans, first responders, pageant queens, classic cars, golf carts, decorated bicycles, and creative red, white, and blue themed entries.
Adding to the excitement, the Tyler Consolidated Marching Band, long considered a source of pride for Tyler County, will participate in the parade and help kick off an afternoon of patriotic celebration.
Following the parade, the celebration will continue at the Stealey Green Family Center with the FREE Community Picnic Presented by Momentive from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Families and guests can enjoy summertime favorites including burgers, hotdogs, chips, baked beans, watermelon, drinks, and community fellowship in a welcoming hometown atmosphere.
The event will also feature the Kids Zone Presented by Long Reach Federal Credit Union, offering family-friendly activities including train rides, inflatables, a foam party provided by Thomas Family Entertainment, face painting, sack races, and other patriotic games throughout the afternoon.
History will come alive during the celebration with a special appearance by an Abraham Lincoln impersonator, living history reenactors, a ceremonial reading from the Declaration of Independence, a flag raising ceremony, recognition of veterans and first responders, and a community time capsule dedication commemorating Americaโs 250th Anniversary.
Guests can also enjoy live entertainment throughout the day featuring the Shortline Junction Bluegrass Band, whose traditional Appalachian sound will provide the perfect soundtrack for this patriotic hometown celebration.
Additional attractions include the Main Street Cruisers Cruise In, featuring classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles; the Red, White & Blue Ribbon Pie Contest; patriotic displays; community vendors; and the Patriotic Storefront Challenge, which encourages local businesses to decorate their storefronts in red, white, and blue.
At 3:00 PM, the community will gather for a special America 250 Birthday Cake Celebration, commemorating the nationโs 250th birthday with cake, fellowship, and community pride.
Organizers say the event is intended to be more than just a celebration.
"This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for our community to come together," said organizers with Middlebourne Parks & Recreation. "We want to celebrate not only America's history, but also the traditions, pride, and community spirit that make Middlebourne special. From the parade and picnic to the music, living history, and family activities, there will truly be something for everyone."
