Tonight's tune, one of Don McLean's most popular. Known to fans as the "American Troubadour", his songs have been covered by the likes of Elvis and Madonna. American Oie references "the day the music died", in reference to the plane crash which claimed the lives of Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens. A classic to this day, it has received over five million airplays.
