The Young People’s Theatre Company is holding auditions for:
Beautiful The Carole King Musical
May20, 2023 at 2pm.
Auditions will be held at the Holdcraft Performing Arts Center located at 1200 Spring Street, Michigan City, IN 46360.
Audition Information
What to Expect When You Audition for YPTC:
Audition: Young people aged 13-20 (as of audition) may participate. No experience is necessary. Actors are cast based on their ability and suitability for the roles.
Actors should come to auditions with completed audition registration forms. The forms are available online and at the audition. Audition forms are available at www.yptcinc.com/auditions.
Those auditioning should come prepared to have fun. They should wear attire appropriate to movement. Dance shoes, character shoes and sneakers are acceptable, but no open toed shoes, flip flops, or bare feet are allowed. You will need to have a two-minute monolog.
There are 21 singing roles and 5 non singing roles to fill. We are going to run a call-back style audition where we have you sing specific songs from the show. Please familiarize yourself with the following songs:
Treble: So Far Away and You Make Me Feel (Like a Natural Woman)
Tenor/Bass: Up On the Roof and You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feeling. We will have everyone sing about 40 seconds of each as we are listening for distinctive voices that have a Carol King/Shirelles/Drifters/Righteous Brothers sound. We will have an accompanist to play for you, (no acapella) and we will have them in the keys that are written in the show (So use the soundtrack to practice).
Time commitment: Participating in a production is a big-time commitment. Be sure you are prepared to commit to all rehearsals and mandatory dates before you audition.
Parent commitment: Each parent is required to ensure that their child arrives to rehearsal and performances prepared and on time.
