✨ LOOKING TO THE LIGHT ✨
Open Call for Art | Winter Exhibition

This November, The Rising Phoenix Gallery invites artists to be part of Looking to the Light, a winter group exhibition centered on hope, renewal, resilience, and the moments that guide us forward. As the year turns and the days grow shorter, we’re seeking work that reflects light—literal or metaphorical—and the ways it helps us navigate change.

We welcome submissions from local and regional artists working in a variety of mediums. Whether your work is quiet or bold, abstract or representational, this exhibition is about illumination, intention, and emerging into what’s next.

📅 Exhibition Dates: November 7, 2026 – January 2, 2027
🎉 Opening Reception: Friday, November 7 | 5–7 PM
📍 2817 Franklin St, Michigan City, IN
🕛 Gallery Hours: Thursdays–Saturdays, 12–6 PM
🎟️ Free & open to the public

💡 Artists: This is your invitation. Share your vision, your voice, and your light with our community.
Submission details and deadlines can be found at 👉 www.RisingPhxGallery.com

We can’t wait to see what you bring forward.

One exhibition. Seven artists. Seven different perspectives on **The Macabre**.

Today we’re sharing a wider look at some of the artwork currently filling The Rising Phoenix Gallery.

One of the things we love about this exhibition is just how varied it is. Each participating artist brings a distinctly different voice, style, and interpretation to the theme, creating an exhibition that moves between the mysterious, unsettling, imaginative, beautiful, strange, and unexpected.

And this is still only a glimpse.

Featuring works by **Salem Slater, Sophia Rapata, Dennis Maloney, Katherine Cundiff, Clinton Worthington, Rob Prellwitz, and J.J. Weinberg**, there is plenty to discover throughout the gallery.

If something in this collection catches your eye, come see it in person. Photographs are wonderful previews, but there is nothing quite like standing in front of the artwork yourself.

Join us for the Walking Art 5K and experience Michigan City in a completely different way.

On Saturday, October 10, the Michigan City Public Art Committee invites you to walk a 5K route through the city while discovering approximately 30 works of public art along the way. Sculptures, murals, artist-designed benches, and other creative landmarks turn the route into an outdoor gallery.

Costumes are encouraged, and the celebration continues with a costume contest, live music, the Leopold Bench Project silent auction, voting for your favorite bench design, and recognition of new public art projects throughout Michigan City.

Saturday, October 10, 2026
5K starts at 10:00 AM
Event hours: 10:00 AM–2:00 PM
Millennium Plaza, Washington Park
Michigan City, Indiana

Proceeds support MAC programs that create opportunities for artists, bring more public art into the community, and help provide scholarships for local students to take art classes.

In black and white, every shadow tells a story.

Today’s featured work from **The Macabre** comes from **Sophia Rapata**, one of seven artists bringing their own distinctive perspectives to our current exhibition at The Rising Phoenix Gallery.

Stripped of color, this piece invites us to focus on contrast, form, light, and shadow—an atmosphere perfectly at home within an exhibition exploring the mysterious, unusual, unsettling, and imaginative.

We’ll continue sharing glimpses from **The Macabre** throughout the week, but photographs can only tell part of the story. We invite you to experience these works in person when the gallery reopens Thursday.
