🚨Trans women are not a secret to be kept.
🚨Love us in the light.
Profess your love for trans femmes because our lives depend on it. Particularly the lives of black trans women who are disproportionately victims of violence at the hands of men who only aide at perpetuating the idea that trans women are something to be ashamed of while also wanting to be with those same women they villainize.
If you fail to see the correlation between violence trans femmes experience and the double standard of worshiping these femmes, so long as no one is watching, you are part of the problem.
To The cis allies and “chasers” reading this, you have an inextricably vital role to play here: protect and love trans people PUBLICLY, PROUDLY, AND UNABASHEDLY. This starts with you, not us.
The social stigma surrounding trans women that govern how men behave are very real but this culture CAN CHANGE, and that starts with holding space for conversations with your relatives, peers, and friends. Make it known that TRANS WOMEN ARE WOMEN and that they are deserving of love, NORMALIZE LOVING TRANS WOMEN.
Don’t let transphobic remarks go by unchecked, aside from donating to mutual aid funds, reposting gofundmes, etc. you must also task yourselves with this work. This work that can mean the difference between life and death for so many.
