I just became one of the first girl Eagle Scouts. I am also a Girl Scout, and I have earned the Girl Scout Gold Award (Girl Scout's equivalent of the Eagle Rank). This makes me one of a handful of people to ever be an Eagle Scout AND a Gold Award Girl Scout. A huge step for girls everywhere. ❤️❤️❤️

I live alone but I still sit at my dining table for almost every meal. Sometimes I eat by candle light. Sometimes I have flowers, although mostly fake since I can’t afford real ones at the moment. Sometimes Chef Pierre has some inspiring food themed anecdote to share. Most of the time it’s a home cooked, made from scratch meal for one.
Some people see the show of etiquette as sad, pathetic and a waste of time. I prefer to think of it as grounded, homey and comforting.
Dull?
Perhaps, but who cares?
What matters is that your belly and your soul are well fed.

I adopted him not long ago. He doesn't know me that well yet, but he fell asleep like this, peacefully, resting his head on the gear shift like it’s the coziest pillow in the world. He’s tired—tired of fear, of waiting, of not being wanted. And now, for the first time in a long time, he sleeps without worry. He trusts me. That’s the most beautiful thing: when a broken soul decides to rest in your presence, knowing they’re safe now. Forever.

I came home from work three days ago to find my boyfriend standing in the hallway, grinning like he’d just painted the Sistine Chapel. He pointed proudly toward the baseboard.
“Look what I made.”
There, in the wall between our living room and bedroom, was a perfect little arched doorway. Wood-framed, smooth-edged, complete with tiny brass hardware that caught the light just right. A doorway — for our cat.
He’d measured her height, researched the proper clearance, even watched videos on how to cut drywall without turning the whole wall into dust. He’d spent two weekends building it — all because he noticed she’d sit by the bedroom door and meow whenever we closed it, wanting to be wherever we weren’t.
I stood there, trying not to cry. Because who does that? Who spends their Saturdays cutting a cat-sized portal into a rental wall, not for praise or attention, but simply because they noticed something small that mattered to someone they love?
Our cat walked through it immediately. Stopped in the middle, looked back at him as if to say, “Finally, someone understands.”
Now she uses it about seventy times a day. Living room to bedroom. Bedroom to living room. Just because she can.
Every time I see her dart through that little archway, I think about love — how it’s rarely grand gestures or perfect moments. Sometimes, it’s a man with a saw, a weekend, and the patience to make life just a little softer for the ones you care about. Even if that someone happens to have whiskers.

I am at a loss, I really don’t even know where to begin or what to say. We learned why that Evan hasn’t been feeling well here lately. My baby has relapsed. The Leukemia is not only in his bone marrow this time but also in his spinal fluid. He is having severe headaches and back pain. He just doesn’t feel well at all. He has a very long road ahead. The treatment this time will be far more intense than the first go around and he will also have to have a bone marrow transplant. No child should have to fight cancer once, let alone having to go through it all over again. When I told him that he had cancer again, he just cried. I stood in the shower last night for what seemed like forever, trying to wash off the reality of the day, but it didn’t work. And reality has set in hard this morning. Please send good vibes and prayers his way, he will need all that he can get.

My four-year-old wore this Cabbage Patch costume to preschool, and another mom pulled me aside to say it was “culturally insensitive.”
I froze.
I’d spent two weeks making that costume — crocheting the yarn wig to match the exact shade of brown as her favorite Cabbage Patch doll from my own childhood. The doll my mom saved from 1985. The one my daughter now carries everywhere and calls Baby Sarah.
When she told me she wanted to be her doll for Halloween, my heart melted. I found her the perfect shirt, tied purple ribbons in her yarn pigtails, and watched her beam in the mirror, spinning in circles saying, “I look just like Baby Sarah!”
At preschool, she was so proud — until that moment. Another mom pulled me aside, said something about “mockery” and “knowing better,” then walked off before I could respond. My daughter squeezed my hand and whispered, “Why is that lady mad?”
I told her some people forget that love — especially a child’s love — is simple and kind. That dressing like her favorite toy isn’t wrong; it’s joyful.
We went for ice cream, still in costume. Strangers smiled, told her how adorable she looked. One older woman teared up, saying it reminded her of her granddaughter’s first Cabbage Patch doll back in 1983.
Since then, my daughter’s worn that costume three more times — to the grocery store, to Grandma’s house, even to bed once because she couldn’t bear to take it off.
That other mom hasn’t spoken to me since. But every time I see my little girl twirling in that yarn wig, I’m reminded that childhood doesn’t need our outrage. It just needs room to be innocent, creative, and full of love.

I saw a dog on the side of the road. As soon as he saw the car, he got up and started barking. I stopped and looked into his eyes, seeing pain, despair, but also hope. It was as if he was pleading, "Take me from here."
And that's exactly what I did! Now, we are starting our new life together!

BREAKING NEWS: Country rap star Jelly Roll has donated his entire $5 million in recent tour bonuses and sponsorship earnings to build a series of homeless support centers in Antioch, Tennessee, his hometown. The initiative will create 150 housing units and 300 shelter beds for those in need. “I’ve seen too many people back home fighting to survive cold nights without a roof over their heads, and I promised myself that if I ever had the chance, I’d step up,” Jelly Roll said emotionally at the press conference. “No one should have to sleep outside in that kind of cold.”
