About my recent work:

Effloresce Pyramid, 2022, Installation

Dana Blickensderfer’s most recent work is a statement on the process of becoming 🌺. A reflection on Self-empowerment, Blickensderfer’s newest installation expounds on her daily rituals and practices inside this multi-sensory work.

The pyramid is a reference to her Egyptian ancestry, bridging the gap between a multi-generational sense of belonging. The use of bright colors, neon light, and painterly markings bring a perhaps western approach to the coined phrase ‘self-care’. Inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe’s abstract flowers, Dana’s repetitious imagery of the lotus flower, also known as the waterlily, represents strength, beauty, and sensuality in her iconic impressionistic approach. Dana invites the viewer to step forward and gaze at the tangible experience of “being and becoming” while pondering the questions, “will we ever get there?!” or “is life just about the journey?!”

By sitting inside the pyramid, viewers encounter references of the artists reflections and connections to identity, purposefully engaging with the internal dialogue within the artist herself.

PARIS ART WEEK 2022. Post 3 of 3:

…”Among the exhibiting artists, JADA showed painters, performers, and installation artists of renown. There was also a heavy NFT, digital art, and film content — which were shown during several evening sessions.

Every single exhibiting artist contributed highly to the quality and excitement of the JADA PARIS ART WEEK EXHIBIT, making this a social and intellectual experiment worthy of all effort and mobilization.

What’s next? JADA at MIAMI ART WEEK. Bolder, bigger, and more meaningful than ever before.
