People have been practicing the art of designing and creating textiles for thousands of years. First emerging from a necessity to fill basic needs, different cultures worldwide took it to another level by developing artistic, creative, and cloth methods that laid the basis for textile art. , pressing, or knotting together individual pieces of natural or artificial fibers. Inspired by the ancient traditions with a contemporary style, in 1997, Colombian textile artist Pilar Tobon founded WTA - Women in Textile Art. It later transformed into World Textile Art to include male artists. This year 2022, WTA celebrates its 25th anniversary with the X International Biennial "25 YEARS WTA", from October through December 2022. For the 10th Biennial, more than ten countries will be interconnected to celebrate WTA history. Durante miles de años, las personas han estado practicando las artes de diseñar y crear textiles. Surgiendo primero para satisfacer las necesidades básicas, diferentes culturas en todo el mundo lo llevaron a otro nivel al desarrollar métodos artísticos, creativos y de telas que sentaron las bases para el arte textil. La tradición de la fabricación de textiles abarca culturas globales como una de las primeras tecnologías humanas para tejer, prensar o anudar piezas individuales de fibras naturales o artificiales. Inspirada en las antiguas tradiciones dándole un estilo contemporáneo, en 1997, la artista textil colombiana Pilar Tobon fundó WTA - Mujeres en el Arte Textil. Más tarde se transformó en World Textile Art para incluir artistas masculinos. Este año 2022, WTA celebra su 25 aniversario con la X Bienal Internacional “25 AÑOS WTA”, de octubre a diciembre de 2022. Para esta X Bienal más de diez países se interconectarán para celebrar la historia de WTA.
