Omar Mendoza’s painting practice centers on the use of natural pigments made from plants, flowers, tree bark, and other organic materials. Drawing inspiration from pre-Hispanic Mesoamerican codices and mural traditions, Mendoza treats the process of making his own pigments as a way of preserving ancestral knowledge threatened by colonial histories and cultural erasure. His labor-intensive paintings are created on handmade cotton surfaces, with colors that can shift and transform over time, reinforcing his interest in memory, change, and the passage of time 🌱

Antonius-Tín Bui is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans hand-cut paper, performance, textiles, and community engagement. Their work explores identity, memory, queerness, and Vietnamese diasporic histories, often drawing on their experience as the child of Vietnamese refugees. Bui’s intricate cut-paper works combine traditional papercutting techniques with contemporary portraiture, using a meditative process of subtraction to reveal stories and histories that have been overlooked or marginalized. Through beauty, craft, and ritual, their work creates space for complex narratives of belonging, inheritance, and community.

Bui’s residency is generously sponsored by Hesty Leibtag and Terry Verk.

Eilen Itzel do Espírito Santo is an Afro-Dominican American artist and writer whose multidisciplinary practice explores the search for joy and purpose within the African Diaspora and Latin America, engaging themes of ancestry, community, spirituality, and colonial history. Working across painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and installation, she combines figuration and abstraction with vibrant color, expressive mark-making, and recurring symbols such as hands, feet, flowers, hearts, and palms. Her maximalist compositions function as visual languages that preserve ancestral memory while celebrating beauty, self-love, and communal knowledge. Through her work, do Espírito Santo transforms personal and diasporic histories into spaces of joy, healing, resistance, and spiritual connection. ❤️‍🔥

For one night each month Fountainhead opens its doors to the public—a rare opportunity to meet the artists in their home, explore their studios, and experience what they’ve been creating during their residency.⠀⠀
