Happening Tonight! Meet Session 3 artist in residence at our Open House tonight, Thursday April 23rd 🖇️

Mauro often creates objects that initially appear familiar—such as architectural fragments, furniture, or utilitarian forms—but reveal themselves, upon closer inspection, to be subtly altered, hollowed, or materially destabilized. These works play with perception, creating a tension between what something seems to be and what it actually is, often suggesting fragility, absence, or transformation beneath a recognizable surface. For Giaconi, these objects are not separate from his drawing practice but extensions of it; he considers them “drawings” in space, where line, gesture, and mark-making are translated into volume and structure.

Meet Mauro and see his work in person tonight from 7-8:30pm with a members only hour starting at 6pm. Enjoy drinks from , and . RSVP at the link in bio🩶

Meet Session 3 artist in residence at our Open House happening tomorrow, Thursday April 23rd 💙

Tariku Shiferaw is an Ethiopian-American artist known for his abstract paintings that explore language, repetition, and identity. His work often features layered text and gestural marks, drawing from both personal experience and broader cultural references, including hip-hop and Black visual culture. Shiferaw’s paintings challenge viewers to consider how meaning is constructed and obscured through repetition and fragmentation.

Meet Tariku and see his work in person this Thursday from 7-8:30pm with a members only hour starting at 6pm. Enjoy drinks from , and . RSVP at the link in bio ❤️‍🔥

Please join us tomorrow, Thursday April 23rd, for an Open House with Session 3 artist in residence 🌀

Drawing on mythology, memory, and art historical references, Weishof builds layered visual narratives that resist fixed interpretation, instead inviting viewers into ambiguous psychological and symbolic spaces. Across her work, recurring themes of distortion, intimacy and estrangement reflect a broader exploration of how bodies relate to one another and to their environments in ways that are both visceral and elusive. 🦵🏽

Did you know that Fountainhead commissions Miami-based photographers each month to document our artists in residence? 📸

These sessions serve a dual purpose: creating a visual record of each residency while also providing artists with professional studio portraits for use in publications, press, and more. Rather than working from a prescribed set of guidelines, we encourage photographers and artists to approach the process collaboratively—allowing each session to reflect the artist’s practice through the photographer’s distinct perspective.

In addition to photography, Fountainhead commissions a filmmaker to produce a one-minute documentary on each artist’s practice, as well as an arts writer to create a critical text about their work. This layered approach to documentation plays a vital role in an artist’s long-term visibility and success, and we are proud to provide these resources thanks to the support of our generous donors.

If you believe in supporting artists and the essential role they play in shaping our world, consider supporting Fountainhead. Learn more about our mission and how to get involved at www.fountainheadarts.org ❤️
