🕊️ 25 years later, we remember September 11, 2001, and the lives forever changed by that day.

As storytellers, we understand the power of film to preserve memories, honor lives, and help us understand moments that shape our shared history. Today, we pause to remember those we lost, those who continue to carry the weight of that day, and the stories that keep their memories alive. 🕯️

What happens when your darkest shadow steps into the light? 🎬🌑

Come experience Eddy Gatoe’s “The Shadow Dance,” directed by Jorge Garcia, at the FilmGate Music Video Festival on Thursday, September 17th!

Logline: The Shadow Dance represents a sleep paralysis demon as a metaphor for a spiritual challenge, playing on the concept of psychological shadow work. With a striking black-and-white noir aesthetic and heavy use of shadows, the music video brings this internal struggle to life. 🎶

🎬 Did you know you can have your script read live?

At Why The Drama?, writers get to hear their words come to life as actors perform their scripts out loud, giving them a whole new way to experience their stories.

It’s more than a reading. It’s a chance to hear how dialogue lands, see how scenes feel in the room, and connect with fellow writers, actors, and filmmakers who are just as passionate about storytelling.

For writers, it’s the kind of space where you can listen, learn, experiment, and let your script breathe outside the page.

Tune into the conversation and hear from the writers behind August's live readings. 👀

From Miami to Venice! 🎬

Here’s our Director, Diliana, representing FilmGate at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival (La Biennale di Venezia)!

The world’s oldest film festival brought together filmmakers, artists, and storytellers from around the globe to celebrate bold new voices and the many forms of cinema. From screenings and premieres to conversations and new perspectives, Venice offered a glimpse into where film is headed next.

At FilmGate, we’re always looking beyond our own backyard—connecting with new communities, discovering emerging work, and bringing those experiences back to South Florida.

A little glimpse into Diliana’s time in Venice. ✨🎞️
