Since the 1960s, Ruscha has made photographic books, tongue-in-cheek photo collages, paintings, and drawings that demonstrate a keen interest in language and the idiosyncrasies of life in Los Angeles, where the artist has lived since the 1950s.
In his most famous works, he places words and phrases from the colloquial and consumerist vernacular atop photographic images or fields of color—a strategy that situates him within a larger Pop art lineage.
Ruscha often paints and draws with unusual materials such as gunpowder, blood, and Pepto Bismol, drawing attention to the deterioration of language and the pervasive clichés in American culture.
Ruscha’s work has been exhibited across the globe, and the artist has enjoyed solo shows at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and Moderna Museet, in addition to the Venice Biennale, where he represented the United States in 2005.

Sculptures by CARLOS ALBERT

Madrid-born sculptor Carlos Albert began his formation in 1999 with Martín Chirino, from whom he not only learned the technique and sculptural conception, but also helped him discover new paths in his artistic creation. In that same year, he created along with other artists “Group 99”, which praised “the traditional values of art” in its manifesto during what was considered a confusing time for the art worldHe continued his education in Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid with a bachelor’s degree and a Diploma in Advanced Studies and, thanks to a scholarship from the University, at the Camberwell College of Arts of the London Insitute (1999-2000).

Throughout his career his work has also provided him with scholarships at the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture (2001), the Elsa Peretti Foundation of Girona (2002) and the Hong Hac Dai Lai JSC of the Flamingo Group of Vietnam (2017)Albert’s production focuses around work with iron and corten steel, modeling them in such a way that his pieces almost come alive, in a continuous search for movement, explorations of space and geometry, and reflections between the object and its absence.

Although his practice is firmly rooted within the Abstraction movement, he considers himself a very traditional artist who is guided by classical canons and places great importance on drawing and composition. During his most recent stage, the incorporation of color stands out as an additional tool that reinforces the contrast between volumes and as one of the his signs of identity.

Ranging from installations to psychedelic paintings to large-scale drawings, Ugo Rondinone’s eclectic work balances on razor’s edge between euphoria and depression.
His signature incandescent colors and Pop references, as in his rainbow-hued and neon-lit sign pieces, turn cultural cliches (“Hell, Yes!”) into material for a contemporary Arte Povera, recycling old catchphrases, repurposed cement, or cast-off clothes.
Similarly, his sculptures often transform everyday objects by casting them in bronze, giving them an artificial permanence that both underscores and denies their perishability.
Rondinone represented Switzerland in the 52nd Venice Biennale.
His work is exhibited at The Museum of Modern Art and he has solo exhibitions at Centre Pompidou in Paris, New Museum, Rockbund Art Museum, Aspen Art Museum, The Studio Museum in Harlem, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma (MACRO), Nasher Sculpture Center and The Bass Museum of Art.

Christo(1935–2020) became famous for his monumental collaborations with his wife and creative partner, Jeanne-Claude. The duo’s projects, such as The Gates (1979–2005) in New York’s Central Park and Wrapped Reichstag (1972–95) in Berlin, made spectacular interventions in public spaces. After Jeanne-Claude’s passing in 2009, Christo worked to complete the couple’s unrealized projects such as The London Mastaba, a 600-ton sculpture made from 7,000 painted oil barrels that floated on the city’s Serpentine Lake in 2018. In gallery spaces—including at the Pérez Art Museum Miami, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art—Christo and Jeanne-Claude presented schematic drawings and models, which exhibited the imagination and technical mastery that undergirded their massive installations.

Sebastiaan Knot was born in Groningen, Holland in 1970, and is currently based in Rotterdam. With over 20 years of experience in commercial photography, graphic, and web design, Knot has transitioned into the world of fine art in recent years. He creates abstract compositions using light as his primary medium to manipulate color and form, resulting in visually striking pieces that challenge the viewer’s perception.
Knot’s work has been exhibited internationally, including a notable show at Fondation Vasarely in July 2022, where his work was displayed alongside that of Victor Vasarely. His photographs are held in the collection of the Maasstad Hospital, as well as in private collections. Knot has been featured in various publications, including a 12-page feature in Aesthetica Magazine issue 111 in 2023.
Knot’s approach to photography is unconventional; he uses light as the subject matter itself rather than using it to make something visible. He emphasizes the organic nature of the forms and the interplay between light and space by creating illusory geometries without any digital manipulation. Knot’s work is created in his studio, where he places a composition of simple shapes surrounded by studio lamps with different color filters. When shooting, the composition is illuminated simultaneously, resulting in a unique shot with scattered light, shadows, and mixed colors. This process creates a unique visual experience that challenges the viewer’s perception of reality. Knot’s work invites the viewer to immerse themselves in a world of vibrant abstractions.

Sol LeWitt was an iconic American artist whose work helped to establish both Minimalism and Conceptual Art. LeWitt’s practice was based primarily within his own intellect, establishing a rubric of formal instructions which his assistants followed to create the works. Some of the artist’s most integral pieces are his Wall Drawings, in which he explored myriad variations of applying drawn lines onto walls. “When an artist uses a conceptual form of art, it means that all of the planning and decisions are made beforehand and the ex*****on is a perfunctory affair. The idea becomes a machine that makes the art,” he wrote in his seminal 1967 essay Paragraphs on Conceptual Art. Born Solomon LeWitt on September 9, 1928 in Hartford, CT, he received his BFA from Syracuse University before serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. After the war, he moved to New York, where he attended illustration classes and worked as a graphic designer for several magazines. During the 1950s, while experimenting with painting during the day and working nights at The Museum of Modern Art he met the artists Robert Ryman, Dan Flavin, and Robert Mangold. By the early 1960s, influenced by a combination of Robert Rauschenberg, Josef Albers, and Eadweard Muybridge, LeWitt had developed his uniquely cerebral approach to making art. The artist would go on to cofound the artist book nonprofit Printed Matter, Inc. in 1976 with writer Lucy Lippard. Over the course of his career he would have a profound influence on both his peers and younger artists including Frank Stella and Eva Hesse. LeWitt died on April 8, 2007 in New York, NY. Today, his works are held in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Tate Gallery in London, the Dia Art Foundation in Beacon, NY, and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.

Brindle’s Light Glyph’s, are luminescent and mercurial sculptures, constantly shifting in hue as the viewer moves around them. Absorbing and reflecting light, they have a meditative quality that calls one’s attention to the moment, and the subtle shifts within that moment.
The word Light, in the series’ title, references perception and the power of light to illuminate, to inspire, and to guide. The glowing vertical bands in the center are the Glyphs, which act as mantra-like focal points for the viewer. The Glyphs also reference ancient, pre-linguistic modes of communication, where symbols or marks were carved in relief to convey ideas in lieu of words. This exhibition introduces new extensions to the series, where, in addition to single works, the Light Glyphs are presented now in various groupings, which foster a rhythmic, jazz-like interaction to one’s experience.

In direct line with the Sanctum series, themselves following the artist’s large butterflies collage gloss paintings, by means of the “Psalm” series
Damien Hirst aims once again to capture beauty, to seize and fix the ephemera.
Adopting the gestures of an all-mighty collector, he meticulously arranges and composes each wing to better dominate.

“ Everyone’s frightened of glass, everyone’s frightened of sharks, everyone loves butterflies.” DAMIEN HIRST
Dixit Insipiens accompanied by its evocative title recalls the infinite precision, the penetrating light, the dangerous fragility as well as the mesmerizing colours of Cathedrals’ and churches’ stain glass windows. The butterflies as if frozen in time upon a pale blue and sparkling background, seem to be on the threshold of life and the heavens. Undoubtedly Dixit Insipiens calls to mind the mandala patterns, also named sacred circle or magic circle. Supports of meditation, the sand mandalas are meant to be destroyed after their contemplation in order to symbolize the impermanent or transitory character of the composed phenomenons. Damien Hirst tackles the evident ambiguity between the preserved perishable body and its uncertain resurrection.

Damien Hirst (1965, Bristol, UK) is a leading artist of the YBA (Young British Artist) generation. He is widely regarded as one of the most important artists working today, creating truly iconic artworks.
