--> The Private Collections That Shaped Miami’s Contemporary Art Landscape. Miami’s emergence as a global contemporary art destination was not built overnight. While artists, galleries, museums, and international art fairs have played essential roles, a powerful network of collectors helped transform the city’s cultural landscape. Through visionary acquisitions, philanthropic efforts, and the creation of public-facing institutions, these private collections have preserved artistic legacies while introducing Miami audiences to some of the most important voices in contemporary art. Featuring the influential collections and cultural legacies of Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz of the de la Cruz Collection, Mera and Don Rubell of the Rubell Museum, Jorge M. Pérez and his philanthropic contributions to Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) and El Espacio 23, Martin Z. Margulies of The Margulies Collection at the Warehouse, Ella Fontanals-Cisneros and the CIFO - The Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation, and Norman and Irma Braman. Through decades of collecting, philanthropy, and dedication to the arts, these visionaries have helped shape Miami’s contemporary art landscape, supporting artists, museums, cultural institutions, and audiences around the world. The Frank Pembroke Pines presents two new exhibition projects opening September 17, 2026: Hyphenated Encounters, a collaborative presentation with The Deering Estate featuring the work of Cuban American artist Lilian Garcia-Roig, and Discord and Serenity, curated by RemiJin Camping and featuring works by Barry University MFA students Joy Johnson and Bruna Marcon Weber. Hyphenated Encounters brings together two interconnected curatorial projects—Lilian Garcia-Roig: A Practice of Place, curated by Sophie Bonet, Chief Curator of The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery, and Deering Estate Residency: Lilian Garcia-Roig, Site, and the Labor of Belonging, curated by Liliam Dominguez, Head Curator of Deering Estate. Together, these presentations offer audiences an expansive exploration of place, identity, memory, perception, and the complex inner and outer worlds explored through contemporary art. --> The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts invites art lovers, collectors, and the Miami community to experience Brushes With Cancer, a program of Twist Out Cancer that pairs artists with people whose lives have been touched by cancer, including previvors, survivors and caregivers. Together, they create powerful works of art inspired by each person’s unique story and journey. All are invited to enjoy the Opening Reception of Brushes With Cancer, with a special art viewing and silent auction on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 6pm, featuring original works of art created through this transformative program in the Knight Concert Hall Lobby. This event is free and open to the public. The Brushes With Cancer program is an artistic celebration that pairs accomplished artists with “inspirations,” people whose lives have been impacted by cancer as previvors, current patients, survivors or caregivers. Currently featured in A Pixel Ring, an online exhibition at Field Projects Gallery. What does it mean to inhabit a body shaped by illness? Artist Dana Donaty explores that question in Florida Blue, The Revenue Stream, a punch needle work created during her time at the ChaNorth Art Residency. The work brings together personal experience, women’s health, medical history, exclusion, and erasure, unfolding across two sides that ask how the currents of history move through women’s bodies.
