✨ Artists We Love: Louise Nevelson ✨ Few artists have done more to redefine the possibilities of sculpture than Louise Nevelson.

Best known for her monumental monochromatic assemblages, Nevelson transformed discarded pieces of wood – fragments of furniture, architecture, and everyday objects – into intricate sculptural worlds, most famously rendered in black, white, and gold.

Her influence continues to resonate today. 'Louise Nevelson: Dawn to Dusk,' now on view at the The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU in Miami, brings together more than 50 works spanning her early figurative paintings, iconic wood constructions, collages, and handcrafted jewelry. On view through January 17, 2027.

Do you know the story of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist? AML learned alllll about it during our summer vacation to Boston!

In 1990, two men posing as police officers entered the museum and left 81 minutes later with 13 works of art – including masterpieces by Vermeer, Rembrandt, Degas, and Manet.

More than 35 years later, the crime remains unsolved and the works are still missing. Perhaps most hauntingly, the museum keeps their empty frames hanging on the walls, waiting for their return.

It remains one of the art world’s greatest mysteries. Read the full story via Smithsonian Magazine: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/five-things-know-about-isabella-stewart-gardner-art-heist-180977448

This summer, AML visited one of America’s most extraordinary cultural institutions: Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

Opened in 1903, the Venetian-inspired museum was created by collector and philanthropist Isabella Stewart Gardner to house her remarkable collection, including works by Titian, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Botticelli, and Sargent (some pictured here!)

At its heart is the spectacular glass-roofed courtyard, surrounded by cloisters, galleries, and ever-changing seasonal plantings. Gardner personally arranged the collection – bringing together paintings, sculpture, furniture, textiles, and decorative arts – and her vision remains largely intact today.

More than a museum, it feels like stepping inside the imagination of one extraordinary collector.

AML’s founder Laura Raiffe first encountered the magnificent herd of The Great Elephant Migration in Miami during Art Week. Now the elephants have migrated to Boston, taking over the city’s Back Bay with 100 life-sized sculptures, and Laura spotted some familiar faces while staying at the lovely Raffles Boston.

Part public art exhibition, part conservation project, 'The Great Elephant Migratio'n brings together art, nature, and a powerful message about human-wildlife coexistence.

From Miami to Boston – we are following the herd! 🐘❤️

August Exhibition of the Month: Michal Rovner's 'Esther Scrolls' Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (until January 2027).

On view at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, 'Esther Scrolls' presents new works by internationally renowned Israeli American artist Michal Rovner, inspired by the 2,500-year-old biblical story of Queen Esther – the orphan who became a Persian queen and risked her life to save her people.

After researching historic megillahs, Rovner created two contemporary vertical scrolls in response to Esther’s story. Through video projection and print, she reinterprets a centuries-old tradition, reflecting on courage, identity, collective memory, and the human condition across time.

A summer in Maine always reminds us of Lynne Drexler, who found lifelong inspiration on Monhegan Island, transforming its rugged landscapes into the vibrant paintings for which she is celebrated today.

This summer, AML founder Laura has been finding her own moments of peace in Maine. We're delighted to currently have access to these two beautiful works by Lynne Drexler, 'Winter Still' and 'Suggested Spring,' pictured here.

Leading AML means a busy art world calendar and constant deadlines. Being a mom means making space for something even more important.

This summer, our founder Laura Raiffe traded her Miami office for the Maine coastline, spending time with her family, slowing down, and rediscovering the value of taking a real break.

The work will always be there. The chance to watch your kids discover a new place won't always wait.

Follow along for more inspirational moments from the road! 🌲🌊

🎨 Work of the Month: Edward Willis Redfield, 'On the Broadhead,' c. 1937

One of the leading figures of the Pennsylvania Impressionist movement, Edward Willis Redfield had an extraordinary ability to capture the changing seasons with remarkable energy and immediacy. Painted en plein air with bold, confident brushwork, 'On the Broadhead' embodies everything that makes Redfield's landscapes so enduring.

Rather than striving for photographic precision, Redfield painted the sensation of a place. Here, the snow-covered banks, rushing water, and historic stone bridge are rendered with thick, expressive strokes that convey the crisp light and quiet stillness of a Pennsylvania winter.

A native of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Redfield helped establish Bucks County as one of America's most important artistic communities in the early twentieth century. Today, his works remain among the most celebrated examples of American Impressionism.
