In What We Carry, Stanek Gallery presents a new solo exhibition by Miami-based artist SAMDI, exploring memory, displacement, heritage, and the emotional ties that remain long after we leave the places that shaped us.

Each painting is coming directly from SAMDI’s studio to our gallery walls, being finished in the studio as we speak. Through expressive figures, portraits, and symbolic forms, SAMDI allows fragments of memory and his Haitian heritage to emerge organically through paint, creating works that feel both deeply personal and open to interpretation.

Join us at Stanek Gallery Miami for the opening of What We Carry on September 18, 2026. On view through November 7.

We decided we couldn’t let leave Stanek Gallery Miami’s walls quite yet. His use of graffiti and vintage signage made DiFronzo the perfect match for our current group show, WORD, investigating the use of language as an art medium.

If you also couldn’t get “Legacy” and “Evening Out (Friday Night)” out of your mind after The Calling, now is your chance to bring them home! Find the full catalog linked in our bio or contact us to schedule a personal visit before the exhibition closes on September 5th.

In “Deep Below the Arms of Industry” Victor Grasso incorporates language directly into the painted surface, using the Spanish phrase “profundamente debajo de los brazos de la industria” meaning “deep below the arms of industry” as both the title and a key visual element.

Set against expressive color and imagery, the words introduce a tension between beauty and power, abstraction and meaning.

Grasso doesn’t simply ask us to read the painting, he asks us to consider how language can alter our relationship to the images, systems, and ideas we encounter.

This is a part of the enduring power of WORD: where language becomes a form of resistance, history, poetry and provocation. It can transform a painting from something we simply look at into something we continue to think about.

For a collector, that conversation doesn’t end when the work leaves the gallery. It comes home with you to make every dinner party and hosting experience all the more interesting.

Victor Grasso, “Deep Below the Arms of Industry,” 2008. Oil on linen, 48 × 36 inches. Collect online via Artsy, link in bio.

We are thrilled to introduce the works of Mickayel Thurin to the walls of Stanek Gallery Miami in our current exhibition, WORD, on display until September 5th. ✨

Look closely within Mickayel’s mixed media portrait pieces and you’ll discover hidden text that takes various forms depending on the artist’s current moment. From positive affirmations to a conversation reflecting on the state of the world, Mickayel is an expert at utilizing language to weave layers of vulnerability and authenticity into her work, creating an unshakeable connection with her viewer.

In “You Manifest by Setting Vibes,” Mickayel uses acrylic paint to call in inner confidence and self trust by advising:

“Untie your mindset from outcomes”

In “How Are You Really?” The text takes a conversational route, responding to the painting’s title:

“How are you really?

I am doing the best I know how.

How have you been?

S**t has been very polarized lately.

Been focused on raising my vibration.”

Visit these pieces in person all weekend long or collect online via Artsy (link in bio)
