Monique Lassooij Art "My vision is to maintain the integrity of my art while deleting as much superfluous detail as possible. I hone in to the details that inspire me to create"

Telling all of the story can be fun, but most of the time it is just distracting.

Work in progress
Been busy today cutting a profile into this Japanese Gomuban rubber plate (40 x 30 cm = 15.8" x 12").
So far, I used a Pfeil 12/1 v- shape and a Pfeil 5/3 u-shape (this info is for you lino cutters).
This is the first time I used the Gomuban and I like it. It's stiff enough for the finger lines to stay sharp, and soft enough to make the cutting not hard.
Now for those of you who do lino cutting, normally the color underneath is lighter than the surface. With the Gomuban the surface underneath is almost black.. this means I see the result of my work on the surface as a negative.
Looking forward to see how this will print.

Another version of this little girl. The first was with a blue blanket and now with an orange one.
This commission was for the proud grandmother.
