Dimensions Variable (DV) is an exhibition space committed to the presentation and support of contemporary art. Through a collaborative exchange with artists and institutions, DV develops an exhibition program that engages the community and promotes new and experimental ideas. Dimensions Variable was founded in 2009 by artists Frances Trombly and Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova who currently serve as dir

ectors. Support for Dimensions Variable is provided by Cannonball through its WaveMaker Grants program, which is part of the Andy Warhol Foundation’s Regional Regranting Program. WaveMaker Grants is supported by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, John S. Knight Foundation, and the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs. Additional support for Dimensions Variable is provided by the donation of its exhibition space by Miami Dade College.

We're launching the Artist Member Microgrant—direct financial support for our artist community, offered to eligible Artist Members across the country. The program is backed by a Los Angeles-based private foundation.

We trust artists to know what their practice needs. Materials, documentation, travel, caregiving that clears time to work, the overhead that keeps a studio running—the Microgrant supports the real, everyday costs that rarely fit conventional funding, yet often decide whether the work continues.

Applications open this fall. Membership makes you eligible—and makes the whole community stronger. By artists, for artists.

Dimensions Variable presents Verdure at Hotel Croydon, featuring works by Karen Starosta-Gilinski, Nicole Burko, and Moira Holohan. Join us for the opening reception on Friday, August 28, with a Members reception at 6 pm followed by the public opening from 7–9 pm. Hors d’oeuvres and Prosecco will be served. Hotel Croydon is located at 3720 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach.

Taking its name from the medieval tapestry tradition of lush, foliage-filled weavings, Verdure brings together three artists whose works explore green through shifting relationships to landscape, surface, material, and image. Moving between underwater perception, chroma green, and the tactile memory of the natural world, the exhibition considers green not simply as a color, but as a condition.

We continue to be invited into these conversations because the field is asking these questions now more than ever. What it needs are more inventive ways of supporting one another—structures artists build together—inside an ecosystem that grows more exclusive and scarcity-driven the harder it works to preserve the status quo.

Dimensions Variable was built on exactly this premise. Since our founding in 2009, we’ve run an artist-led ecosystem in which artists are co-builders rather than recipients—the people who make and sustain the structure itself through stable studios, membership, exhibitions, conversations, and a journal that holds the work in critical dialogue. “Artists supporting artists” isn’t a tagline here; it’s the advocacy we’ve practiced from the start, an example of how to self-organize instead of waiting for the market to make room.

This conversation—“Tomorrow’s Nomadic, Collaborative, and Experimental Gallery Model”—was part of Future Talks by Artlogic (), recorded at Future Fair () in New York this past May. Thanks to moderator Elise Carrollo () and to fellow panelists Seoyoung Kim (), Brett Lee () for a generative exchange on where the gallery model goes from here.

Artists don't just belong at Dimensions Variable—they help build it.

Our Artist Membership is open to practicing artists across the United States. Core benefits are available nationally, with additional programs and space in Miami. Members join a growing, artist-led community organized around visibility, professional resources, connection, and support.

$20 per month, one-year commitment. Applications are reviewed to keep the community grounded in active practice.

We had the pleasure of joining Coralie Claeysen-Gleyzon, The James Cottrell & Joseph Lovett Chief Curator (Coralie Claeysen-Gleyzon) at the Orlando Museum of Art (Orlando Museum of Art) this past Monday for a private tour of the Florida Prize in Contemporary Art exhibition. Now on view at Dimensions Variable: State of Transition, a solo exhibition by DV co-founding director Leyden Rodríguez-Casanova.

Growing from Rodríguez-Casanova’s sustained investigation into the material systems that shape daily life, the exhibition brings together construction materials, industrial hardware, gates, and familiar domestic objects associated with protection, restraint, migration, and survival.

At the center of State of Transition is the fine and often invisible line between being held in place and holding things together. The works consider home not only as a place of dwelling, but also as a threshold—a space of departure, uncertainty, and transformation.
