A quiet tribute, a lasting legacy today. 🌿

Asser Saint-Val is being honoured as a 30-Year Catalyst Anniversary Fellow, a recognition of his profound creative presence and his enduring contribution to our artistic community. His bronze-toned bust, set beneath the morning light, reflects the dignity of a life devoted to vision, spirit, and service.

For 30 years, DVCAI has stood with artists as they shape work that uplifts, questions, and transforms. This moment reminds us why investment in Diaspora artists matters. It is legacy work, plain and simple.

Visit DVCAI.org to learn more and continue supporting the artists carrying this legacy forward. ✨

Inside the studio, transformation begins.

This quiet moment holds the heart of our residency and exchange experiences, where artists live, listen, and create across borders. Here, Caribbean diaspora memory meets new possibility, and every conversation deepens the work. ✨

At DVCAI, these journeys are made possible through the generosity of our supporters and partners. Join us in sustaining this vision and investing in the next chapter of diaspora art.

A portrait of presence, purpose, and possibility.

In this quiet, powerful moment, we are reminded that every artist carries a story shaped by vision, discipline, and community. At DVCAI, we are honoured to create the time and space where such stories can deepen and flourish.

For 30 years, our work has helped 2,600+ artists across 23 countries grow their practice and their reach. If you believe in sustaining Caribbean diaspora artistry, we invite you to connect with us and support this vital work. ✨

A portrait shaped by time, space, and community.

Meet Jevon Brown, a Surinamese-born visual artist whose work carries memory, ancestry, and quiet strength into the present. Through DVCAI’s residency support, his practice found room to deepen, and his vision continues to reach new audiences across borders. ✨

This is what happens when artists are given the right conditions to grow. Join us in celebrating his journey, and support the work that makes stories like his possible.

A room becomes a threshold. ✨

Under the light, the work holds memory, movement, and the quiet electricity of becoming. This is what residency makes possible, space for artists to listen, experiment, and transform.

At DVCAI, we are honoured to steward these moments of exchange for Caribbean and Latin diaspora artists. Join us in supporting the journeys that bring this vision to life.

Lance Minto-Strouse is a Jamaican artist of Afro-Chinese, Anglo, and Native American ancestry. His multidisciplinary practice encompasses painting, sculpture, digital art, film, and collage, focusing on themes of community, temporality, and everyday life through an anthropological lens. By exploring the history of reclaimed materials, Minto-Strouse creates dialogues concerning systemic inequity, disposability, community, and race. In 2026, he was selected as a Catalyst Awardee by DVCAI.

From Panama to Suriname to three years at Studio 164 in Little Haiti: Thom Wheeler Castillo's journey through DVCAI has been one of sustained connection, exchange, and artistic deepening.

A two-time Catalyst Award recipient, Wheeler Castillo advanced Heraldic Bouquets, a body of work honoring matrilineal bonds and legacy through stenciled and painted botanicals envisioned at an architectural scale.

DVCAI congratulates Thom and celebrates the next chapter of his artistic practice.
