You never really know where following your passion will take you. For one couple from South Africa, it led halfway around the world. 🌎

Saturday evening, they stopped for dinner at the High Winds Casino Steakhouse. Their accents caught our attention and started an unforgettable conversation. 🍷

He served in the South African military before becoming the first South African to finish the Iditarod, racing nearly 1,000 miles across Alaska behind a team of dogs. 🐕 Together, he and his wife founded the G*T Foundation, turning their love for dogs into work supporting wildlife conservation and the working canines protecting endangered animals in Africa.

Through their support of K9 anti-poaching teams, they've helped bring the remarkable abilities of tracking dogs into wildlife conservation, where a dog's nose can play a vital role in protecting some of Africa's most endangered animals. 🐾

They’ve built a life around something they love, made a difference doing it and continue to share that passion everywhere it takes them. We were lucky enough to hear a few chapters Saturday night, including the fact that this is their favorite part of Oklahoma. South Africa, Alaska… and northeast Oklahoma made the list. 📍

Sometimes the coolest part of High Winds isn’t what’s happening on the floor. It’s finding out who’s sitting at the next table.

🎃 HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST 👻

Saturday, October 31, Halloween takes over High Winds Casino.

Registration is open from 6–9 PM at the Players Club, and this is your annual reminder that some of you have been waiting an unreasonable amount of time for permission to leave the house dressed like this. 😎

The TOP 10 costumes will each win $200 CASH!

Winners will be announced from 9:30–10 PM, and you must be present to win.

But Halloween at High Winds doesn’t end when the costumes leave the building. 👀

Our Top 10 are headed to Facebook for everyone’s favorite annual tradition: judging complete strangers on the internet.

The costume with the most votes will take home another $500 CASH!

That means one costume could turn Halloween night into a $700 CASH payday. 💵

🎯 THIS HUNT CAME WITH A BACKGROUND CHECK.

For three Saturdays, Thrill of the Hunt had everyone setting their sights on High Winds. 🦌 Six names hit the target each weekend, making 18 winners in all. By the final night, grown men were gathered around that glass case comparing favorites while the wives watched from a distance.

🏹 By 7 PM, all that window shopping was about to pay off. One winner turned the crossbow into his son’s Christmas present. Another got to prove his son VERY wrong after being told he “wasn’t gonna win anything.” 🦌 Our 30/30 winner? His 9-year-old son had shot his first buck just an hour earlier. Talk about good aim.

🌲 A crowd favorite found its forever home with a father-son duo. The best hunting stories are shared, and judging by those smiles, these two just added a good one. 🏆 Our final winner had already made our page with a jackpot that week. Sir, save some luck for everybody else.

🥾 Three Saturdays later, Thrill of the Hunt is officially bagged and tagged. These weren’t just prizes. They became Christmas presents, future hunting trips, family jokes and “remember when I won that gun?” stories.
